US seems to back down after Hina Rabbani rap

After saying that Washington was losing patience with Pakistan for not acting on terror groups, the US is now trying to tone down its stance. It now says America is "working constructively with Pakistan". The sudden conciliatory tone could have stemmed from Pakistan's Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar's warning that the US risked losing its partnership with Pakistan if it continued criticising Islamabad.

Odyssey Marine Exploration Inc says it confirmed the identity and location of a World War II-era shipwreck believed to be carrying 7 million ounces of silver. The SS Gairsoppa, a British cargo ship torpedoed by a German U-boat in February 1941, is sitting nearly 4,700 metres (15,420 feet) below the surface of the North Atlantic, about 300 miles (500 kilometres) off Ireland's coast. Records say it was carrying silver valued in 1941 at approximately 600,000 British pounds.

An American professional wingsuit flier on Saturday successfully performed a jump and dive through the Tianmen Hole - an actual hole through a mountain - in Hunan province, central China. The 35 year old American Jeb Corliss jumped from a helicopter 6,000 feet above the Tianmen cave, flying towards it, and went right through it.

Wangari Maathai, the first African woman recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, died after a long struggle with cancer, the environmental organization she founded said Monday. She was 71. One of Kenya's most recognizable women, Maathai won the Nobel in 2004 for combining environmentalism and social activism. She was the founder of the Green Belt Movement, where over 30 years she mobilized poor women to plant 30 million trees.
