America's 'most wanted' paedophile caught secretly living in London Posted: One of America's most wanted paedophile's convicted of child molestation has been caught secretly living in London. Shawn Sullivan, who molested two 11-year-old girls and had sex with an unconscious 14-year-old girl, was the US' most wanted sex criminal since 1994. He was finally picked up by the Met Police last year in England, the Daily Mail reports. Minnesota State reportedly wants Sullivan, 42, extradited to face charges and a spokeswoman for Dakota County Attorney's office said they had been working with the UK to ensure he is. According to the report, Sullivan was granted bail in December, asked to wear an electronic tag and abide by a strict curfew. Sullivan, who is originally from Georgia, had gone years without showing on the radar as a fugitive from the US government. During this time he lived in Ireland and was given a suspended jail sentence there for sexually attacking two 12-year-old girls. After marrying an Irish woman, Sullivan moved to England last year on an Irish passport and arrived undetected using the Gaelic spelling surname O'Suilleabhain. In 2007 that Interpol, the international police organization, added him to its most wanted list, the paper said. Meanwhile, the Home Office confirmed Sullivan's extradition was ordered in February but it is being contested by the convicted paedophile.

The hacker, who appeared to be a Pakistani, said the Supreme Court's website was chosen for hacking to "convey a message" to Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry. "So I am here to request you to go out there and help the poor, needy and hungry," the message posted by the hacker said. The hacker, in the message peppered with expletives, called on the Chief Justice to initiate suo motu action to ban pornographic websites in Pakistan. The Supreme Court's website has been defaced by hackers on at least one occasion in the past.

Movie inspires man with broken leg survive for four days in desert Posted: A man, who broke his leg, crawled for four days across the Utah desert, after being inspired by a movie 127 Hours, which portrayed a man who cut off his own arm to save himself after being trapped by a boulder in the same canyon Concord- based Amos Wayne Richards, 64, who fell 10 feet into the Little Blue John Canyon during his hiking adventure, is now recovering from leg injury at home, the Telegraph reports. Richards, who was stranded in a desert without a mobile phone service survived on only two protein bars and rain water. Canyonlands National Park Rangers found Richards after four days of his accident, when he flashed his camera at their helicopter, after crawling to reach his car. "I was actually following my GPS, crawling right on top of my feet print that I had hiked in on," Richards said. Canyonlands and Arches national parks Chief Ranger Denny Ziemann said they started searching for Richards after they came across his abandoned campsite, and they discovered his car two days later at the Little Blue John Canyon's trailhead. Ziemann said Richards could have suffered a more serious injury because he went hiking alone and without informing anybody. "We make a lot of rescues of people, but we usually know where they are. They were either hiking with somebody and got hurt or if they were hiking alone, they told people where they were going," he said. In 2003, climber Aron Ralston hiked into the same canyon without telling anyone his plans. He was forced to cut off his own arm after being trapped by a boulder. The incident was later adapted into the Oscar-nominated film "127 Hours."

UK schools forced to give sex lessons, hand out contraceptives Posted: Primary schools in the UK are being forced to teach sex education, while secondary schools are being encouraged to hand out contraception and hold condom demonstrations in class under a scheme meant to promote 'healthy' lifestyles Campaigners claim the Healthy Schools Programme is being used to impose 'permissive' sex education without a national debate, the Daily Mail reported. Launched in 1999, it had its central funding cut this year, but is still being promoted by local authorities. In a survey of all 152 English councils, the Family Education Trust found one in five councils told primary schools that decided not to teach sex and relationship education that they would not be eligible for 'Healthy Schools status'. Norman Wells, director of the Family Education Trust, said it was "very concerning" that primary schools were still being leant on to provide it. "Primary schools that make a principled decision not to teach sex education should not be stigmatised and denied a sought-after award for that reason," he said. Northamptonshire county council supported giving pupils as young as 12 the opportunity to practise putting a condom on a demonstrator device in the classroom. And South Tyneside believed it would be 'good practice' to give free condoms to pupils older than 14 for such lessons. Overall, 8 percent of councils believed teaching pupils as young as 12 and 13 how to use freely supplied condoms would be in line with the guidance. Six percent of councils said it would not be possible for secondary schools to get Healthy Schools status if they did not wish to refer pupils to contraceptive and sexual health clinics. "In some parts, the programme is being used to impose a liberal and permissive type of sex education on schools by the back door," Wells added.
Posted: Speculation that Russian PM Vladimir Putin may have had cosmetic surgery has resurfaced as he prepares to assume presidency for the third time The 58-year-old Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin set the blogosphere alight at the weekend after accepting his party's presidential nomination at a glitzy Moscow event with his face looking suspiciously smooth.
Set to turn 59 next month, Putin prides himself on his image as a Judo-loving energetic action man who is in ideal shape to lead the world's largest country. But his critics say he risks turning into a parody of Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev who ruled the USSR from 1964 until his death in 1982. Putin is well placed to serve two back-to-back presidential terms that would keep him in power until 2024 at which point he would be 71. Speculation that he has cosmetically altered his face first surfaced in October 2010 after he appeared at a press conference in Ukraine wearing heavy make up with a dark patch that looked like severe bruising around his left eye. His spokesman said the incident was a misunderstanding, claiming the light had fallen awkwardly and that Putin was simply tired because he had been "working a great deal." Earlier this month, a magazine said he had probably had Botox injected into his forehead, an eye-lift on his lower lids, and an injection of firming filler into his famous cheek bones. Meanwhile, ex-USSR leader Mikhail Gorbachev has warned Russia risks wasting six years if Putin returns to the presidency in March as expected.
Hitler key rings cause outrage in Taiwan Posted: Key rings bearing an Adolf Hitler lookalike have caused outrage after going on sale in a convenience store in Taiwan. The items, seen at several 7-Eleven convenience stores in Taipei, sported an Adolf Hitler-style cartoon figure with a short black moustache, a brown jacket and a red-black-and-white symbol reminiscent of the Nazis' swastika banners. Strong reactions: The Hitler lookalikes appeared on USB sticks, key rings and magnets on sale at stores in Taiwan, triggering a strong reaction from the de facto Israeli embassy, which said it was "appalled". Pic/AFP "We were appalled to see the Hitler lookalike image being used, again, as marketing aid, and sold in Taiwan's 7-Eleven stores," said Simona Halperin, representative of the Israel Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei. She added that she was sure the images were the result of "ignorance" and did not reflect "support or identification with the atrocities committed during the Holocaust by the Nazis." An official from President Chain Store Corp, which runs 7-Eleven in Taiwan, denied the images were meant to represent the German dictator. "They don't look like Hitler. It's not a moustache, but a tooth," she said, referring to a black square in the middle of the figure's face. Meanwhile, German archives showed that Hitler was booked for going too fast in his supercharged Mercedes limousine. He was handed the fine in Baar-Ebenhausen, south of the city of Ingolstadt, on September 19, 1931.
Gunman kills one at Kabul CIA office Posted: A US citizen has been shot dead by an Afghan employee in a baffling attack at an annex to the US embassy used by the CIA in Kabul, officials said yesterday. The gunman was killed in the incident at the the Ariana Hotel compound late Sunday and another US citizen also wounded, the embassy said. It was the latest eruption of violence to hit supposedly secure sites in Kabul after Afghan peace envoy Burhanuddin Rabbani was assassinated on September 20 and a 19-hour assault targeting the US embassy on September 13. The attack comes as Washington steps up pressure on Islamabad to tackle the Haqqani network, a group linked to al-Qaeda and loyal to the Taliban, blamed for much of the violence in Kabul and whose leaders are based in Pakistan. "There was a shooting incident at an annex of the US embassy in Kabul involving an Afghan employee who was killed," said US embassy spokesman Gavin Sundwall. "One US citizen was killed, one was wounded." Sundwall said the Afghan employee had acted as "a lone gunman." "The motivation for the attack is still under investigation," he added. There was no immediate claim of responsibility from the Taliban.
Posted: Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman sparks outcry by claiming Tea Party opposition to Barack Obama is fuelled by racial prejudice Actor Morgan Freeman has sparked fury -- and some delight -- after accusing the Tea Party of racism in its opposition to US President Barack Obama. The Oscar-winning star of The Shawshank Redemption told talk show host Piers Morgan on Friday that the Republican offshoot's determination to avoid a second term under Obama was fuelled by prejudice towards the colour of the president's skin. Unhappy actor: Morgan Freeman said Tea Party policy towards US President Barack Obama 'shows the weak, dark, underside of America'. File pic "Stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term," he said. "What ... underlines that? S***w the country. We're going to do whatever we do to get this black man ... outta here." Freeman added: "It just shows the weak, dark, underside of America. We're supposed to be better than that. We really are. That's, that's why all those people were in tears when Obama was elected president. 'Ah, look at what we are. Look at how, this is America.' You know? And then it just sort of started turning because these people surfaced like stirring up muddy water." African-American Tea Party candidate for the 2012 presidential election Herman Cain, who won a surprise straw poll in Florida following the Republican debate on Saturday, responded: "I doubt if Morgan Freeman, with all due respect, who is a great actor, has ever been to a Tea Party. Most of the people that are criticising the Tea Parties ... about having a racist element, they have never been to a Tea Party." Speaking on Saturday, Cain continued: "I just think that it is sad that they're so short-sighted in really understanding what the whole Tea Party citizen movement is all about. So, name calling is something that's going to continue in this because they don't know how to stop this movement. And this movement is making a big difference in politics, because a lot of the traditional Democrats are moving to the centre or moving over to vote for conservatives. They're taking another look at a Herman Cain." There were suggestions that Freeman's comments may have negatively affected the box office performance of his new film Dolphin Tale.
Man writes book on sex with dolphin Posted: An American author has written a book detailing his nine-month-long sexual relationship with a female dolphin, a media report said. Malcolm Brenner's book "Wet Goddess: Recollection of a dolphin lover" recounts his love affair in the 1970s with a captive female dolphin named Ruby, The Sun reported. Brenner says he had a "sexual relationship" with the dolphin and that it was she that "initiated" the sex. Brenner, a resident of Florida, said the relationship started after "she began raking her teeth lightly against my arms and legs which was indescribably erotic". "The dolphin initiated the whole sexual thing. She was in isolation (and) was using me to satisfy her sexual needs," he was quoted as saying. He said Ruby "probably died of a broken heart" soon after he left for college. The book that has been given a five-star rating on online shopping site Amazon.com, costs $16.95.

Hacker puts sex message on British MP's phone Posted: A hacker penetrated a British woman MP's voicemail and left a sexually offensive message that asked callers whether they had recently indulged in a sex act, a media report said Sunday The hacker also disabled the House of Commons telephone system, the Daily Mail reported. Claire Perry, Tory MP for Devizes in Wiltshire, 117 km from London, said she found her voicemail had been changed. "There was a general, system-wide failure overnight. But the changing of the voicemail strongly suggests that the two things were linked, and that a good deal of planning had gone into the operation," she said. She, however, did not say what the message was. David Whitelegg, an IT security expert, said the hacker may not have been a prankster, but that he may have been testing the security of the system. "It's worrying because it is the sort of thing a terrorist could do prior to launching an offensive. It shows our vulnerability to a cyber attack," he said. |
