Arun Narayan and Musafir Baitha, both assistants in the department of Hindi publication, are also facing departmental inquiry over the episode.

The policeman, who is in uniform, raises a stick - a huge lathi -and brings it down on the man. The gathered crowd shouts "Maaro, maaro (beat him)." The policeman continues. At least seven blows are delivered. The man starts bleeding.

| IIM-Calcutta to tap corporates for funds Posted: 23 Sep 2011 09:32 AM PDT The Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta (IIM-C) is planning to tap Indian corporates for funds to complete some of its infrastructural projects following increased intake of students over the last three years. "The student intake has gone up. This year the total intake is around 450 students. Earlier, the intake was around 260 students," IIM-C director Shekhar Chaudhuri told IANS here.

The incident was reported from Adarsh Nagar area of north Delhi. Fire tenders were sent to the spot but before they could launch the rescue operation, the man was charred to death.
