An attendant at the Toll plaza at Kherki Daula was shot dead by unknown persons when he insisted on toll fees - Rs 27 - from a car, police said today.

A policeman, surrounded by others, stands above a man lying on the ground. The policeman, who is in uniform, raises a stick - a huge lathi -and brings it down on the man. The gathered crowd shouts "Maaro, maaro (beat him)." The policeman continues. At least seven blows are delivered. The man starts bleeding.


IIM-Calcutta to tap corporates for funds

The Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta (IIM-C) is planning to tap Indian corporates for funds to complete some of its infrastructural projects following increased intake of students over the last three years. "The student intake has gone up. This year the total intake is around 450 students. Earlier, the intake was around 260 students," IIM-C director Shekhar Chaudhuri told IANS here.


Man burns to death as car goes up in flames

A 30-year-old man was burnt to death after his car caught fire due to a short circuit. The incident was reported from Adarsh Nagar area of north Delhi. Fire tenders were sent to the spot but before they could launch the rescue operation, the man was charred to death.
