Berlusconi's smitten ex mistress says sex with him was fantastic

Posted:

Embattled Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's former mistress has said that there was nothing fake about her four-year romance with the 75 year old, revealing she was smitten with him when they first met in 2005

Actress/model Evelina Mann has opened up about her fling with the leader in the pages of October's Playboy magazine.

Manna tells the men's magazine that she and the Italian Prime Minister got together after she named him as one of the men she most admired in an interview promoting the film Alexander, in which she had a small role.

She met Berlusconi for tea at his apartment in Rome and, in the Playboy article, she hints that they had sex the following day at his retreat in Sardinia.

"I was totally in love... After lunch that day, let's just say we were together," Contactmusic quoted her as telling the publication.

And Manna insists sex with the Prime Minister was "fantastic".

"He is a man. Very male... We had a beautiful relationship. It was clean," she said.

The affair came to an end in 2009 as Berlusconi was dealing with his divorce and the death of his mother, and Manna insists her ex is a hard man to replace.

"I haven't met another man like that. It's hard to find a man who can follow the Prime Minister of Italy, Silvio Berlusconi, into my bedroom," she added.

School principal warns parents to get kids off 'verbal sewer' Facebook

Posted:

A school principal fed up with cyber-bullying has used his newsletter to send a blunt message to parents that reads: 'Get your kids off Facebook, this verbal sewer is harming your children'

Principal Chris Duncan, from Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School, in Tweed Heads, said he normally wrote an 800-word article on education or school issues, but he was prompted to take a different approach after having to help a 16-year-old student who suffered serious abuse on Facebook.

"It was one of those reflex actions," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted him as saying.

"I put it [the newsletter] out and thought this is going to offend half of the school community, but the feedback I've had is overwhelmingly positive."

Duncan said he was aware of students who had been sent into an "appalling state" due to abuse they received on Facebook, with some children being more vulnerable than others.

"Some kids deal with it really well and other kids are mortally wounded by it and it's just the way different kids react to things," he said.

"I, and all of my colleague principals around the country, deal with very distressed young people and very distressed parents who have been subjected to what I would call tirades of verbal abuse on Facebook."

He said he was not suggesting a Facebook ban but urged parents to be more proactive.

"My concern is parents are not overly aware of what their kids are subjected to until it gets to the point you've got a very distressed, abused young person," he said.

"Certainly if they've got primary school age kids they shouldn't be on Facebook for a start and with teenage kids they should be aware of what they're doing, or limit their time on the computer at least," he added.

Wife sets cheating hubby on fire

A woman in Britain killed her cheating husband by dousing him in petrol and setting him on fire after discovering that he fathered a secret love child, a court heard

Georgina Furtado Vilella, 46, allegedly killed her husband Carlos Vilella, aged 45. He died in the house fire at the couple's terraced home in Walsall, an industrial town in England's West Midlands, Daily Mail reported.

She watched emotionlessly from the garden as her house burned.

Peter Greaves-Smith QC, prosecuting, told the jurors that she had bought a petrol container and filled it with five litres of fuel before pouring the liquid on her adulterous husband as he slept and ignited it.

The incident occurred March 28.

Three of her four stepdaughters aged 13, 17 and 21 who were also asleep in the house, however, managed to escape the blaze. But Vilella's 14-year-old daughter suffered injuries.

A murder jury at Wolverhampton crown court heard that everyone else was asleep in the house apart from Vilella, at the time of the attack.

However, Vilella, who is originally from Guinea, has denied murder and arson with intent to endanger life.

UK learning website for unemployed full of spelling, grammatical errors

Posted:

A British website, set up to provide the unemployed basic literacy and interview skills, has come under fire after spelling mistakes, grammatical and typographical errors were seen on its online page

The Learning Zone website told job candidates they will be provided with 'equal opportunies', and a course that 'foucses' on the steps needed to prepare for interview.

One page, dedicated to helping jobseekers improve their writing skills and CV, boasts: "This course uses a variet or media and different resourses." While another boasts that one successful candidate has made a "god clean start".

Employment firm Avanta, which is being paid millions of pounds by the Government, unveiled the website in June, and the appalling errors were first highlighted two months ago, but have still not been corrected.

It was set up under the Government's 5 billion pounds back-to-work programme, which aims to help 2.5 million who are claiming jobseeker's allowance and sickness benefits to get jobs over the next seven years.

"The site is bulging with so many spelling errors, it is an insult to those it is supposed to be serving," the Daily Mail quoted one of the site's users, Stephen Dixon, 38, from Redcar, Cleveland, a former classroom assistant and nursery worker who has been out of work for a year, as saying.

"Recently there have been reports setting out possible plans for benefits claimants - if they do not get their literacy levels to a certain level their benefits will be cut.

"Then you see this website and the mistakes on there," Dixon, who pointed out the errors to Avanta, added.

Kaye Rideout, a regional director with Avanta, said she was disappointed that the mistakes on the website had still not been rectified.

An artist, who is known for his nude paintings, has painted the Queen's latest portrait

Darren Baker, 35, who is renowned for his "classical realism" style, and is a graduate of Bradford Art College, painted the portrait of the monarch.

It shows the Queen looking relaxed in a royal blue dress, pearl necklace and black court shoes. She also wears a brooch with a spray of five poppies.

The portrait was commissioned to mark the Royal British Legion's 90th year and the 85th birthday of the Queen, its patron.

"My aim was to capture the grace of our wonderful monarch while incorporating the essence of the Legion," the Daily Mail quoted Baker as saying.

It was unveiled at a service in Westminster Abbey, where Sir John Kiszely, national president of the Legion, described the work as "remarkably realistic".

Baker charges up to 90,000 pounds for a portrait and his previous subjects include Tony Blair, Prince Charles, Jonny Wilkinson and Lewis Hamilton.

Lesbian couple's honeymoon ruined after discrimination by holiday firm

Posted:

A lesbian couple has claimed that their honeymoon became their worst nightmare after they were discriminated against by a holiday firm

Gemma Harman, 24, and Tamsin Harper, 36, went to the Dominican Republic through travel giant Thomson after their civil partnership earlier this year.

But they claim the firm didn't acknowledge their holiday as a honeymoon and said they did not receive special treatment offered to other newlyweds.

Harman, of Brighouse, West Yorks, said they were treated in a "homophobic manner" while other guests were treated "like VIPs".

"It was possibly the worst two weeks I've spent ever," the Sun quoted Harman as saying.

However, a spokesman for Thomson denied they had been victims of discrimination.

"The holiday didn't live up to their expectations and it didn't live up to our standards. But it could have happened to anyone," he insisted.

The couple have been offered compensation.

Boxing legend Mike Tyson in Bigg Boss 5?

Former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson has reportedly been finalized as a participant in the Indian version of Big Brother.

The programme, known as Bigg Boss, starts in October, and will be hosted by Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt, reports the BBC.

Last season, former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson made a special appearance in the Bigg Boss house and proved a ratings booster for the show.

The late reality TV star Jade Goody appeared in Bigg Boss in 2008.

Goody died in March 2009 after a high-profile battle with cervical cancer; she learned she had the condition while on the show.

There were rumours that that the boxer would feature in the celebrity-line up during this season's Big Brother in UK, which has moved to its new home on Channel 5.
Tyson is no newcomer to India - in 2007, he made his Bollywood debut, starring in a music video for a Hindi film called Fool-n-Final, a comedy centred on a bunch of criminals.

Harry's return to Afghanistan rests in UK PM's hands

UK PM David Cameron is to make the final decision on whether Prince Harry returns to the front line in Afghanistan as he prepares for the final stage of his training as an Apache helicopter pilot.

The Prince, who fought in Helmand with the Household Cavalry in 2008, is almost certain to be deployed with his squadron late and has the full support of the Queen and his father. An insider said, "The Prime Minister will be consulted before any decision is set in stone, and ultimately he will have the power to block the Prince's deployment. At this stage, there is nothing to suggest David Cameron would stand in the way of Prince Harry being granted his wish to go back to Afghanistan."

Afro prompts hair pat-down by TSA

Passenger comes to tears after security officials at Georgia airport insist on checking her hair fearing she's hiding explosives inside

An airline passenger in the US who had already been through airport security was left in tears after security officers insisted on checking her Afro-style hair in case she was concealing explosives.

Hairdresser Isis Brantley was stopped at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia, after she had passed a scanning device.

Hiding place: Hairdresser Isis Brantley was forced to undergo a
humiliating pat down in front of everyone rather than in a private room.
She had to tolerate officials searching her hair and stripping her scalp.

As she travelled down an escalator, she claims she heard someone yell, "Hey you, hey you, ma'am, stop. Stop -- the lady with the hair, you."

Two TSA agents told her she could not go any further until they checked her hair for explosives, said Brantley, of Dallas, Texas.

Outraged
Reluctantly she allowed them to do it and the TSA staff patted her hair down right there instead of asking to return to a private area for screening.

"And so she started patting my hair, and I was in tears at that point," said Brantley.

"And she was digging in my scalp."

"I was outraged," Brantley said. "I was humiliated. I was confused."

After the pat-down, Brantley complained to a TSA supervisor at Hartsfield-Jackson who then apologised to her.

"She said, 'Ma'am, please, I promise you, I'm going to take care of it. I'm so sorry that happened to you,'" Brantley said. "And I'm like, 'OK, that's weird.'"

Brantley, who frequently travels across the US to see clients, said she has worn her hair naturally for 20 years and has never had her hair checked until Monday's incident.

She said she is scared she will be harassed again the next time she flies.

Officialspeak
"Our screening procedures are designed to ensure the security of the traveling public," TSA said in a statement.

"Additional screening may be required for clothing, headwear or hair where prohibited items could be hidden. This passenger left the checkpoint prior to the completion of the screening process. She was offered but refused private screening."

358 leeches used to reconstruct woman's face

Posted:

A huge chunk of a woman's face bitten off during a horrific dog attack was reconstructed by Swedish surgeons using 358 leeches, a media report said Wednesday.

Her relatives managed to recover the loose skin, spanning from her upper lip to her eye, and keep it chilled. The incident took place last month.

During the 15-hour procedure, experts at Skane University Hospital in Malmo used the leeches to force blood to flow into the damaged skin, Daily Mail reported.

The leeches helped re-start circulation through their sucking and blood-thinning fluids.

"The grower who supplies the hospital with leeches ran out, so more had to be flown in from the UK," the Mail said quoting surgeon Stina Klasson.

My boy won't cut ponytail: Father tells school

Posted:

The father of an 11-year-old boy in Britain has made it a human rights issue after his son was asked by his school to cut off his three-inch ponytail.

The Westhoughton High School in Bolton told Connor Wallwork that his unusual hairstyle breached the uniform code.

Geoff Wallwork, 46, has withdrawn his son Connor from classes, claiming the school is infringing his son's human rights.

"He's had the ponytail since he was a toddler, it is natural to him. It would be like cutting someone's finger off. I've spoken to the head and he says it's got to come off," Daily Mail reported Wednesday quoting the father as saying.

Wallwork has now asked the school to send work home for his son. "I like my hair the way it is and don't want to have it cut," Connor said.

Gunmen dump 35 bodies on busy avenue in Mexico

Posted:

Masked gunmen blocked traffic on a busy avenue in a Gulf of Mexico coastal city and dumped the bodies of 35 slaying victims as horrified motorists watched, authorities said today.

Veracruz state Attorney General Reynaldo Escobar Perez said the bodies were left piled in two trucks and on the ground of an underpass near a shopping mall in the city of Boca del Rio.

Police had identified seven of the victims so far and all had criminal records for murder, drug dealing, kidnapping and extortion and were linked to organised crime, Escobar said. He didn't say to what group the victims belonged to.

The Gulf and Zetas drug cartels have been locked in a bloody war for control in Veracruz state over the last year.

Motorists first began tweeting yesterday that masked gunmen in military uniforms were blocking Manuel Avila Camacho Boulevard in Boca del Rio's downtown and pointing their guns at civilians.

"They don't seem to be soldiers or police," a tweet read. Another said, "Don't go through that area, there is danger."

Escobar said police were reviewing surveillance video recorded in the area. Local media said that 12 of the victims were women and that some of the dead men had been among prisoners who escaped from three Veracruz prisons on Monday, but Escobar said he couldn't confirm that.

At least 32 inmates got away from the three Veracruz prisons. Police recaptured 14 of them.

Earlier yesterday, the Mexican army announced it had captured a key figure in the cult-like Knights Templar drug cartel that is sowing violence in western Mexico.

Indian doc banned in UK for secretly recording showering female colleagues

Posted:

An Indian-born doctor studying for a PhD in Leeds, West Yorkshire, has been asked to leave the United Kingdom and ordered to undergo a 10-year sex offender treatment programme by a court after he pleaded guilty to secretly recording female colleagues showering in the bathroom, on his laptop

Thirty-three-year-old Cardiologist Vivek Baliga, who appeared before the Leeds Crown Court, recorded the doctors naked scenes on his laptop by mounting spy cameras in bathrooms.

The Peeping Tom has pleaded guilty to three counts of voyeurism against the two doctors, the Daily Mail reports.

Prosecutor Carmel Pearson told the court that Dr. Baliga set up the recording devices between September 2007 and December 2009 to store films of his two female friends on his laptop.

"They considered him a close friend. Both had considered him part of their social group and had allowed him into their homes," the paper quoted Pearson, as saying.

One of the doctors discovered she had been videoed when she visited Baliga's home on 13 December 2009 with her boyfriend. The defendant suggested she use the shower in his en-suite bathroom.

''While she was showering she discovered a video camera. It was switched on and had recorded her taking a shower. She tried to delete the images of her. She was horrified.

"She went back to the bedroom and told her partner. They left without speaking to the defendant. He tried to stop them from leaving. They just drove off. He then bombarded Miss A with texts and phone calls begging for forgiveness. His life would

be ruined if she reported him to the police," Pearson said.

Pearson said that after a great deal of thought she finally reported the matter to the police.

In a text message to one of his victims he wrote: "I am thoroughly ashamed of myself. I made the biggest mistake of my life. I will never forgive myself. I will regret it forever. I have lost a good friend. I am an idiot."
