Mexican man found living with sister's corpse Posted: An octogenarian in Hidalgo, a state in central Mexico, has been found living with his dead sister's corpse, officials said The discovery was made Thursday night at a house in Tulancingo, a city located about 120 km northeast of Mexico City. Police had received a report that an elderly man was wandering around the city. Joaquin Soto Marroquin, who is around 80 and apparently suffers from mental problems, was taken home by officers, who found his sister's body in an advanced state of decomposition in a bed. The body was taken to the coroner's office in Tulancingo. The elderly man told police his sister, Clementina, was sick and not dead, the El Sol de Hidalgo newspaper reported Saturday. Tests conducted by crime scene investigators indicate that the woman died about eight months ago from natural causes, the newspaper said. Neighbours had noticed that Soto Marroquin's sister was not around, but they never suspected she had died, El Sol said. Investigators are trying to determine whether the octogenarian has relatives who can take charge of him and claim the body.
Celeb craze for 'handbag' dogs sees rise in number of abandoned animals Posted: A leading animal charity has revealed that the number of "catwalk" dogs being abandoned is growing at an alarming rate In the last two years the Dogs Trust has seen a 44 percent rise in toy dogs being handed in to its re-homing centres. Chihuahuas, dachshunds, pug crosses and pomeranians are favoured by celebrities such as Paris Hilton who are frequently pictured carrying them in handbags. But members of the public who follow the trend are finding they can't cope with or afford the animals, which can cost upwards of 1,000 pounds, as they grow up. According to the Sunday Times, in 2008, 285 small breed dogs were left at Dogs Trust centres around Britain, and last year the figure was 409. The RSPCA said many puppy farms are raising miniature breeds in doubtful conditions. And the Dogs Trust is so concerned about the trend for catwalk dogs among teenagers aping celebrities that it is launching a dog-care education programme for schools. It is also launching a campaign this week called A Dog is not a Toy. Paula Boyden, the Trust's veterinary director, expects a growing number of dogs to be abandoned as the trend fades. "This illustrates just how dangerous any fashion that involves dogs is," the Daily Mail quoted Boyden as saying.

Posted: Dominique Strauss-Kahn touched down in Paris for a French homecoming yesterday morning. Smiling and waving, the former presidential front-runner and wife Anne Sinclair landed at Charles de Gaulle airport and hopped right into a waiting black sedan. "A bient't," see you soon, was all Strauss-Kahn said on his return to Paris after months under house arrest in New York, where he was accused of sexually assaulting a hotel maid. Charges were dropped last month. ![]() He pushed a luggage cart and flashed a wide smile. The few supporters cheering him on were outnumbered by dozens of journalists. "I saw a man content, happy, at ease with himself," said Faraba Fofana of Paris, who was standing inches away as Strauss-Kahn passed by. Chased by paparazzi on motorcycles for the 19-mile drive in the rain, the couple headed to their chic brick townhouse on picturesque Place des Vosges. The beaming couple posed and waved in their courtyard before going inside the 2-storey multi-million-dollar mansion. A spokeswoman emerged to say Strauss-Kahn would make no comment. The local press heralded Strauss-Kahn's homecoming. Several prominent French officials spoke out in support of him. "I am a happy neighbour," said former French Culture Minister Jack Lang, who lives down the block. "Finally, they are freed from this humiliating and unjust situation. They proved to have an amazing strength."
Camerons commit royal faux pas Posted: UK Prime Minister David Cameron proved that even prime ministers can get caught out by royal protocol when he and wife Samantha committed a faux pas at yesterday's Braemar Gathering. The Camerons, who are guests of the Queen at Balmoral Castle this weekend, failed to make it into the royal box in time to sing the national anthem. ![]() Busy greeting guests, David and Samantha Cameron, were unable to make it to the royal box in time and had to sing the national anthem from the sidelines The couple were so busy meeting and greeting guests at the annual Highland games in Aberdeenshire, they missed the royals' formal entrance and were forced to sing from the sidelines. An onlooker said, "They looked a little embarrassed. The royal party arrived together but soon split up to shake hands. The Queen went ahead and before the Camerons knew it, she was in the royal box facing the crowd. Suddenly the national anthem started, before the Camerons could get to their seats. They were forced to sing there, which made them look awkward. Obama's gaffe US President Barack Obam also made a royal faux pas in the past, raising his toast to the Queen while the national anthem played in the background.

The Green Day frontman got kicked off of a flight on Thursday because his trousers were riding too low, showing off his pants. ![]() Billie Joe Armstrong, lead singer of Green Day took to Twitter to express his anger The 39-year-old singer took to Twitter to express his outrage after his airline debacle after being bumped from the Oakland-to-Burbank plane. "Just got kicked off a southwest flight because my pants sagged too low!" he tweeted. "What the f**k? No joke!" Cindy Qiu, an ABC news producer who witnessed the calamity occur said that a flight attendant approached the singer during take-off and asked him to pull up his trousers. His initial response was to ask the attendant if there weren't 'better things to do than worry about his pants?' When he refused to acquiesce, insisting he was just trying to get back to his seat, he and his travelling companion were given the boot. Southwest spokesman Brad Hawkins released a statement saying Armstrong was allowed onto the next flight to Burbank. He told a customer relations agent he had no further complaints about the Boulevard of Broken Dreams singer. "As soon as we became aware of what had happened, we reached out to apologise for this Customer's experience," Hawkins' statement read. Starry Tantrums At least Armstrong knows how to behave himself in the sky in comparison to other celebrities. French actor Gerard Depardieu recently got intoxicated on a flight and urinated in the aisle, while Minka Kelly reportedly had a meltdown when she couldn't sit with her dog on a flight.
