One killed as portion of lodge collapses

A 69-year old man was killed and another injured when a portion of a three-storied lodge collapsed in Trissur district of Kerala, police said. Rammunni of Kollam was killed and Reghupathy of Theni in Tamil Nadu was injured in the incident that occurred at Kerala Bhavan Lodge, said to be more than 70 years old, police said. Reghupathy has been admitted to hospital, they said, adding, the local tehsildar has suspended the functioning of the lodge.

An attempt to murder on a fashion designer in Bangalore was foiled when she called her brother just in time. The call was cut mid-way but not before her brother heard her screams and called the police. 25-year-old Vasundhara, a NIFT graduate, was home alone when her cook Arjun Pandit and his friend Ravindra Kumar Thakur allegedly tried to kill her on August 13.

Fire in Gurgaon mall under control

A fire broke out at the Vishal Mega Mart Mall in sector 14 of Gurgaon early on Thursday morning. Seven to eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire has reportedly been brought under control now.
