| Utah police investigate polygamist family from reality show 'Sister Wives' Posted: Tuesday, September 28, 2010 Sister Wives focuses on Brown, his four wives—Meri, Janelle, Christine and Robyn—and his 13 children and three step-children. The family has said they are participating in the show to bring more public awareness to polygamist families and fight societal prejudices. Brown has claimed the arrangement is not illegal because he is only legally married to Meri, and the other marriages are only spiritual unions. However, Lehi police said yesterday that state laws identify bigamy through cohabitation, not just legal contracts. The department plans to turn their findings over to the Utah Attorney General's office at the conclusion of their investigation. More... |

| Former professional wrestler Giant González dies aged 44 Posted: Tuesday, September 28, 2010 Former Argentine professional wrestler and basketball Jorge 'Giant' Gonzalez has died at the age of 44. González died in his hometown of San Martin, Argentina. The cause of death was established to be complications of diabetes. González had suffered with the illness for several years and was wheelchair bound. Standing over 7.5 feet (2.3 metres) tall, González was originally a basketball player before becoming a wrestler. Upon moving to the United States, he was drafted in the third round of the 1988 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks. After his basketball career ended, he joined World Championship Wrestling (WCW). During his time there, he wrestled as El Gigante for two years, then joining the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), now World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). More... |
| Polish soldier killed in eastern Afghanistan Posted: Tuesday, September 28, 2010
A Polish soldier was killed yesterday by a roadside bomb in eastern Afghanistan. Sgt. Kazimierz Kasprzak was killed in the province of Ghazni when a roadside bomb exploded underneath the patrol vehicle in which he was travelling. His death was announced by the Polish Defence Ministry and Lt. Sebastian Kostecki, a spokesman for the Polish military. More... |
