The webometric ranking of world universities 2011 conducted by a Spanish research organisation has ranked the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad 53rd in the South Asian region out of 20,000 universities surveyed.

Taking a serious view of the 'highly commercialised education' in the country, which is adversely affecting the meritorious but poor students, the Allahabad high court has taken judicial notice of the the management of educational institutions that are running shops collecting huge money under the table as capitation fee.

After the Arts faculty at Allahabad University invited protest from different quarters for not considering non-NET candidates for the guest faculty recruitment at 14 departments, the interview for the guest faculty in various departments of the science faculty scheduled to be held on August 29 and 30 could consider non-NET candidates too.
