The execution of three men for assassinating Rajiv Gandhi has been stayed by eight weeks; their hanging had been scheduled for September 9. This morning, the Madras High Court suspended the death sentence given to Santhan, Murugan and Perarivalan so that their case can be reviewed. The Union government has also been asked to respond within eight weeks.
