Honore: Send Congress to boot camp Posted: 02 Aug 2011 03:10 PM PDT Like most veterans, the men and women who have worn our nation's uniform to defend this country, I am furious with and disappointed in the state of indecision that plagued Washington these past few weeks. Whether or not to raise the debt ceiling so our country can continue to pay our bills and maintain our global credit rating didn't seem like such a difficult decision. |
Simpson: Debt deal a timid baby step Posted: 02 Aug 2011 01:52 PM PDT The mountain roared and gave birth to a mouse. Even after taking the country to the brink of economic disaster, our leaders in Washington still could not forge a broad, bipartisan consensus on a plan to stabilize the debt. As I predicted here last week, Congress found a way to muddle through the current debt limit crisis by promising to deal with the debt later. |
Congress leaves FAA workers in lurch Posted: 02 Aug 2011 06:22 PM PDT The U.S. Senate went on summer recess Tuesday night without taking action to fully fund the Federal Aviation Administration, all but assuring that almost 4,000 furloughed FAA workers will remain jobless for the next five weeks, and preventing the agency from collecting $1.2 billion in aviation taxes. |
