Modi government fumes over Gujarat Lokayukta's appointment Posted: 26 Aug 2011 07:03 PM PDT The Narendra Modi Government on Friday termed Governor Kamla Beniwal's decision to appoint Lokayukta in the state as "one sided" and blamed the opposition Congress' "non-cooperation" for the delay in naming the anti-graft ombudsman. The Gujarat Governor, on Thursday night, appointed Justice (retd) RA Mehta as the Lokayukta, bypassing the state BJP government in the process. |

If her appearance wasn't up to the standards deemed suitable by the team of policemen that mistook her for a beggar and hauled her to court it could be because she had spent the last six weeks in a hospital, undergoing treatment for a skin disorder. The Kothrud police said they did not suspect any foul play and claimed the women had died of suffocation after fumigating their house on Wednesday to get rid of bedbugs. The deceased were identified as 52-year-old Sandhya and Usha Nadkarni. |
