Dumb burglar hangs up stolen curtains in his window! Posted: A burglar in Britain was caught when he stole his neighbour's net curtains and hanged them up in his own window. Jason Williams has been jailed for two years and five months after admitting his fourth burglary. The 38-year-old was rumbled when the neighbours went to his home and asked him why he had got their net curtains. The crime was described as ''not very sophisticated'' by the defendant's own barrister. Elizabeth Lowe, prosecuting, told the court the neighbour had moved out of the property and left only a few items inside. Williams broke down boarding on the home in Slough, Berkshire, and stole the net curtains, tools, two glass ashtrays and some lamb steaks from the freezer. However, the defendant denied that it was anything to do with him - but could not say how he got the net curtains, a judge at Reading Crown Court was told. He later confessed to the crime in police interviews and admitted burglary when he appeared before magistrates court. Alastair Smith, defending, said that it had merely been an ''opportunistic'' crime. "The fact that this defendant went on to place the curtains in his own window shows a lack of sophistication and realisation of the seriousness of the offence," the Daily Mail quoted Smith as saying. "If he realised it could lead to three years in custody he might have taken more time to consider his actions," Smith added.

Woman gets 35k pounds sexual harassment payout after boss gropes her Posted: A British saleswoman has got 35,000 pounds in a sexual harassment case against her boss after he groped her bottom during a business trip. Nicola Furlong, 39, who earned up to 90,000 pounds a year, said she was groped on a sales conference to Nashville, Tennessee, with male workmates from BMC, of Egham, Surrey, reports the Sun. She revealed that her boss Bart Fanelli put his hand up her skirt, fondled her and said he would like to "eat her like a marshmallow". She said she was later "warned off" from making a formal complaint against Fanelli, a senior vice president at the US parent company of her firm BMC Software Limited. The single mum, the only woman in the UK team, was also jeered when she refused to go into a lap-dancing club - where clients were often taken to clinch deals. She said her managing director said she "would have been up on the table with her t**s out". The tribunal in Reading, Berks, ruled a claim of sex discrimination "well founded".
Kenyan man dubbed 'danger' passes away leaving behind 100 widows Posted: A Kenyan man, who earned himself the nickname 'Danger' because women found him so attractive, has passed away after marrying more than 100 women in his lifetime and fathering nearly 200 children. Ancentus Akuku, who was Kenya's most prominent polygamist, was in his late 90's when he passed away of natural causes. Akuku, who married his first wife in 1939, became a polygamist some 70 years ago at the age of 22, and he outlived 12 of his wives, marrying the last one in 1992. He fathered so many children that he established two elementary schools solely to educate them, and he also built a church for his growing family to attend. In many tribes having several wives was a sign of wealth and status for a man, and Danger Akuku represented the ultimate symbol of traditional manhood. While young Kenyans paid their respects to the man with over 100 wives, most said that lifestyle is not possible in today's environment. "I had heard of Akuku Danger back in the day when I was a teen, and up to now I still wonder how he did this," ABC News quoted Jeff Kilumi, a businessman in Nairobi, as saying. "Right now, even if I had a lot of money, 'Bill Gates' rich, I wouldn't even go for a second wife. The more the women, the more the headache and stress," he stated. While many Kenyan women had mothers and grandmothers who were part of polygamous households, most urban young women say a life like Akuku's with all his wives living together peacefully would be impossible to achieve today. "We all understand that polygamy was allowed back then in some Kenyan communities, but Akuku is something else," Linet Wambui, a Nairobi saleswoman, said. "Personally, I would never be married to a man who has another wife let alone a hundred more. Those women were clearly different. Try having an Akuku at this day and age, the women would kill one another," she added.
Taiwan reports first case of Delhi 'superbug' Posted: The multi-drug resistant bacteria 'superbug' seems to have reached Taiwan. Taiwan's disease control bureau has said that it detected the bacteria, carrying the New Delhi metallo-lactamase-1 (NDM-1) gene, in a wounded Taiwan cameraman just back from India. The cameraman was shot and wounded last month in India, and he was found carrying an antibiotics-resistant bacteria containing NDM-1 in his intestines after clinical tests, though he developed no symptoms, the bureau said, reports Xinhua. The cameraman is recovering and has been discharged from hospital, according to the bureau. The bureau said the case was strictly monitored during the cameraman's journey from India to the island, and officials ruled out risks from the spread of the disease.
Briton stabs, strangles niece in pornographic obsession Posted: A pornography-obsessed 38-year-old Briton has stabbed and strangled his teenaged niece to death to fulfill his sick obsession, a media report said. John Maden, who had downloaded a collection of sadistic 'snuff' movies from the internet, enticed his 12-year-old niece Tia Rigg to his home on the pretext of getting her to look after his daughter, Daily Mail reported on Monday. Instead he drugged the unsuspecting youngster before torturing and abusing her, then stabbing her in the stomach and strangling her with a guitar string. Minutes later, Maden made a chilling 999 call in which he confessed to the horrific murder, which he said he'd committed "because I felt like it". He was ordered to serve the rest of his life behind bars for what a judge branded his 'unspeakable' crime, joining the ranks of Britain's most notorious murderers, including Ian Brady and Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe. Jobless Maden had become fascinated with sadistic 'snuff' movies - films showing a murder being committed - while downloading a sick library of violent pornography and explicit images of children, a court heard on Monday. Tia, the daughter of Maden's sister, Lynne, frequently came round to his home in Cheetham Hill, Manchester, to baby-sit for his 10-year-old daughter, and he secretly began plotting to act out his dreadful fantasy on her. The divorced father-of-one downloaded more than 2,000 explicit images from the internet, including the most extreme level-five categories of child porn - police sources said he had obtained most of such photographs that are in existence. On April 3, Maden called his sister and asked if Tia could come round to baby-sit, before drugging the youngster with tablets he had been given to combat his psychotic episodes. Just 45 minutes after she arrived, Maden dialed 999 and made a 'chillingly calm' call to report what he had done. Police officers found Tea's naked body with her hands tied behind her back and surrounded by two knives and a sex toy. She had been tortured and raped before being stabbed in the stomach and finally strangled with a guitar string. After his arrest, Maden claimed he had been listening to a 'bad voice' in his head "controlling him and telling him what to do". At Manchester Crown Court he admitted rape, torture and murder and was jailed for life. "When this nightmare happened, it killed me inside," her mother said. "My heart has been broken and will never mend. All that is left is a big empty hole. "Tia was my whole world. I miss her big smile every morning and her beautiful freckly face."
American teacher to be fired for using 70 kids in porn videos Posted: An American dance teacher, who is accused of using more than 70 children in porn videos, will be fired by his high school in Texas. Federal investigators uncovered a massive stash of child pornography in the house of 34-year-old Marco Alferez last month, according to the NY Daily News. The Feds say they have been able to identify between 65 to 70 victims on over 200 tapes made by Alferez, including one tape in which he is seen having sex with a child. The Daily News also reported that the US Immigration and Custom Enforcement found the accused had hid the camera to film the sex acts with children of varying ages. "His life was over," said Gilbert Campa from the ICE, who noted that Alferez had admitted to making his own videos for many years. Campa testified that the dance teacher said he had also suffered sexual abuse as a child and appeared to be relieved at being busted.
Times Square's 'Naked Cowboy' announces presidential bid Posted: The Naked Cowboy, an underwear-clothed entertainer who strums a guitar in New York's iconic Times Square, has announced his plan to run for 2012 US presidential elections. Robert Burck, known as the Naked Cowboy, is a popular tourist sighting in New York City. The 39-year-old roams around Times Square with his guitar and attracts large crowds with his singing and dancing. He dresses only in white briefs, white boots and a cowboy hat. "America needs a president who believes in America," Burck said in a statement. "America needs a president who will stand up for America and protect its language, its borders, and most importantly, its culture. "What American's need is a president who seeks to empower the people and to allow the free market to determine value, not a president intent on empowering government and misappropriating the resources of the productive class," he said. Burck, whose underwear has the words Naked Cowboy written at the back, has invited the media to attend a press conference tomorrow in which he will outline his political and economic policies. "America, I will fight to give the power back to the people," he said. "My entire platform and all of my policies and decisions will be organised so as to achieve a much smaller, fiscally responsible, decentralised federal government, a robust economy run strictly on Free Market Principles, and the strongest National Defence on Earth," he continued. The New York Post reported that in 2009, Burck challenged Mayor Michael Bloomberg for the position of NYC's mayor but then withdrew saying there was too much red-tape involved.
Vatican slams IVF doc for Nobel Prize win Posted: The Vatican has criticised a decision to award the Nobel Prize for Medicine to IVF pioneer Robert Edwards, who has brought the joy of parenthood to millions of infertile couples. "I find the choice of Robert Edwards completely out of order," said Ignacio Carrasco de Paula, head of the Pontifical Academy for Life, which speaks for the Vatican on medical ethics issues. "Without Edwards, there would not be a market on which millions of ovocytes are sold ... and there would not be a large number of freezers filled with embryos in the world," he was quoted as saying. "In the best of cases they are transferred into a uterus, but most probably they will end up abandoned or dead, which is a problem for which the new Nobel Prize winner is responsible." The interview also specified that he was speaking in a personal capacity. IVF paved the way for "donations and sales involving human beings" and Edwards did not address the pathology of infertility. Immoral The Vatican considers in-vitro fertilisation immoral because of the wastage of a large number of embryos during the procedure. The Nobel committee yesterday hailed the 85-year-old Briton's work as "a milestone in the development of modern medicine". The original test tube baby also offered her congratulations. "It's fantastic news. Me and mum are glad that one of the pioneers of IVF has been given the recognition he deserves," said Louise Brown.
