China will explore deep space

China will set up its own deep space communication network, which will help in the exploration of the solar system, said top scientist Qian Weiping, chief designer of Chang'e-2 mission's tracking and control system.

"China could carry out an exploration of the solar system," he said.

Chang'e-2, China's second lunar probe, which was launched on Friday, will test the X-spectrum telemetry, tracking and control system, a key technology in the deep space network, according to China Daily.


CIA chief meets Chidambaram

Visiting Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) chief Leon Panetta met Home Minister P Chidambaram here on Saturday and discussed the security arrangements for US President Barack Obama's upcoming visit and the situation in Afghanistan.

Obama is scheduled to visit India in November. US Ambassador Timothy J Roemer accompanied Panetta when he called on Chidambaram at his North Block office.

From the Indian side, Research and Analysis Wing chief KC Verma attended the discussions.


Hostile response for Musharraf's party

Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has reportedly drawn a hostile response from political parties, despite the announcement of the formation of his All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) party in London.

AK Dogar, an eminent lawyer, submitted a fresh petition against Musharraf on Saturday in the Supreme Court.

He prayed for "registration of a treason case against Musharraf for suspending the constitution twice".
