A special criminal court in Riyadh yesterday sentenced 37-year-old Haila Al-Qaseer after she was convicted of taking part in various terrorist activities, Arab news reported. The court also banned her from travelling abroad for 15 years after her release.

A high school teacher was convicted Thursday of having sex with five students, some of them football players, after a judge rejected an insanity defense that argued the teens took advantage of her. Stacy Schuler was sentenced to a total of four years in prison for the encounters with the Mason High School students at her home in Springboro in southwest Ohio in 2010. She can ask a judge to free her from prison after six months.


Magnitude-6.9 earthquake shakes Peru's coast

A magnitude-6.9 earthquake centered off Peru's central coast sent people running panicked into the streets on Friday in cities badly damaged by a killer quake four years earlier. There were no reports of damage though hospital directors reported at least 20 injuries.
