Woman killed over $20 Facebook fight Posted: A quarrel that started on Facebook ended in bloodshed, as a 22-year-old was stabbed to death in a Brooklyn housing project in New York following an argument over $20 she lent her boyfriend's sister for diapers. Kamisha Richards was attacked Monday at 10.35 pm near her home at the Cypress Hills Houses on Sutter Avenue in east New York, police said. She was stabbed once in the chest, The Daily Telegraph quoted police as saying. Richards was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a little later. Police have caught the suspect Kayla Henriques, 18, mother of an 11-month-old boy. On Sunday night, Richards and Henriques had a heated war-of-words on Facebook. Henriques was arrested Wednesday morning and has been charged with second-degree murder. A friend of both women said Henriques always needed help. "The day before yesterday she came to me looking for some pampers," she said. "She was always low on stuff. Kamisha used to help out with the baby and used to baby-sit. She was even helping to plan the baby's birthday party in May." The friend, who requested she not be named, also said Richards "didn't like people who took advantage of her". "The whole thing stated when she loaned her $20 for pampers." |
Tokyo Sky Tree becomes world's tallest tower Posted: The height of Tokyo Sky Tree, now under construction in Tokyo's Sumida Ward, topped 600 meters, making it the world's tallest self-standing tower. Until yesterday, the Canton Tower in China's Guangdong Province held the record. Tokyo Sky Tree will reach its target height of 634 meters by the end of March. The project, which began in July 2008, will be completed in December. It became the tallest tower in Japan in March last year after topping the 333-meter-high Tokyo Tower. A digital terrestrial television broadcast antenna is currently being installed on the tower, which will eventually have two viewing platforms, at 350- and 450-meter points. Tokyo Sky Tree is set to begin operations in the spring of 2012. Commercial facilities, office buildings and an aquarium are slated to be built nearby. The tower is already attracting many visitors, who want to see it before completion, making it a new Tokyo tourist attraction. |
Jobless salesman puts himself up for sale on eBay! Posted: A UK salesman, who has been jobless for the past two years, is so desperate to find work that he has taken an unusual step -- he has put himself up for sale on online auction site eBay. Former travelling salesman David Wood from Bristol has spent every day of the last two years scanning newspapers, websites and writing up to 30 job applications for a paid employment. But despite his efforts, David is still jobless and has had to ask his father for a loan to prevent him losing his home, reports the Daily Mail. Wood decided to put the 'For Sale an Experienced Sales Representative' advert on eBay when he began contemplating suicide last month. His tongue-in-cheek advert reads: 'For Sale an Experienced Sales Representative' and describes him as a 1965 model who is 'enthusiastic' and 'motivated'. It adds that he comes with 25 years' of sales experience covering a wide product base, is 'IT, PC and web literate' and is looking for offers of 35,000 pounds. "When I was handed an eviction notice two months ago I really did think I had come to the end of the road. The thought of taking my own life went through my mind. It can be very dispiriting but I just decided to dust myself down and start again," said Wood. "I have had my head stuck in the sand by my own admission and tried to ignore a problem, which would not go away. To put it simply I am a man who has reached a point where every avenue has been exhausted and this is a last-ditch attempt to get an employer's attention," he added. |
Losing virginity was an absolutely terrible experience: Lady Gaga Posted: Lady Gaga has revealed that she lost her virginity when she was a teenager and also admitted that it was a 'terrible' experience. The 'Born This Way' singer said she didn't enjoy sex for the first time because she wasn't fully prepared. "I didn't lose my virginity until I was 17. But I have to say even then I wasn't ready and it was an absolutely terrible experience," the Daily Telegraph quote her as telling Britain's Grazia magazine. "It wasn't good at all. I have never not had safe sex, I have always asked a guy to be tested and to use protection, which was always my rule. Otherwise you're playing Russian Roulette," she said. The 24-year-old hitmaker -- who is presently dating bar owner Luc Carl, who she has known since she was 19 -- says she didn't enjoy sleeping with someone until much later and feels making love is a way of expressing 'vulnerability'. "I never actually enjoyed sex until two years ago. It was a proper monogamous relationship in which I felt free enough to trust and I had enough self love," the singer said. "Sex is the ultimate expression of vulnerability and for me it was important to know that it was a proper relationship so it was sex as a source of love and nothing else," she added. |

Pak minority affairs minister assassinated Posted: Pakistan's Pak Minority Affairs Minister Shahbaz Bhatti, a Christian, was gunned down here on Wednesday as he left home to attend a key meeting. Bhatti was leaving his house in Sector I-8 in Islamabad when gunmen in a car opened fire at his vehicle, causing panic in the area. Bhatti was receiving death threats ever since he accompanied then governor of Pakistan's Punjab Salman Taseer to a prison to advocate the innocence for a Christian woman who was given death penalty on alleged blasphemy charges. Taseer was murdered by his official security guard in January while Bhatti restricted his movements after receiving life threats. The assassination took place at about 11:15 am, Xinhua reported. TV channels quoted eyewitnesses as saying that two gunmen in a white Suzuki car stopped the minister's car and opened fire at him with automatic guns. The attackers fled after the firing. The injured minister was rushed to the nearby Shifa International Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. Bhatti was a Pakistan Peoples Party leader and also the chairman of the All Pakistan Minorities Alliance. |
