| Former presidential hopeful John Edwards faces trial Posted: WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina (Reuters) - Former U.S. Senator John Edwards goes on trial Monday on charges he used illegal campaign contributions to cover up an affair with a mistress who became pregnant during his failed bid for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination. Edwards is accused of accepting more than $900,000 in campaign funds from two wealthy donors, knowing the exposure of his extramarital affair "would destroy his presidential campaign," prosecutors said in a trial brief. The candidate at the time was a married father of three, whose late wife, Elizabeth, had breast cancer. ... |

Dallas police on Sunday said they could not confirm whether the remains were those of Johnathan Ramsey until forensics and DNA testing were completed. Police said they found the remains during a search for the boy's body. Police began searching for the child's body in March after arresting his father and stepmother in connection with his disappearance. ... |
| Tulsa, Oklahoma's racial divide bedevils plan to honor MLK Posted: TULSA, Oklahoma (Reuters) - This city, where a history of racial tension was inflamed by the Good Friday shootings of five black people, plans to name a street in honor of civil rights pioneer Dr. Martin Luther King but only the section that passes through a predominantly black part of a city. The challenges in winning approval for the move and getting it put into place -- including the need to scale the proposal down to get it passed by the largely white city council -- illustrate Tulsa's legacy of racial animosities and resistance to change. ... |

| Nor'easter to bring heavy rain and snow to U.S. East Posted: (Reuters) - Heavy rains and snow will soon pound the eastern United States, possibly leading to downed trees, power outages and flight delays as a low pressure system from the Gulf of Mexico moves through the region, meteorologists said on Saturday.
