Today in Tech reports on a test flight of an airborne wind turbine that was deployed on a blimp inflated with helium to 350 feet into the air. The doughnut-shaped balloon held a wind turbine suspended in the middle by wires. As higher-altitude winds spun the turbine, electricity was generated that transferred down a tether wire to be stored.

Car Made in Missouri Gets 358 Miles Per Gallon

KYTV in Springfield, Mo., reports a car designed by students at Aurora Junior High School gets 358 miles per gallon. The red roadster seats one, has three small bicycle wheels and starts with a pull cord. The steering column is similar to a bicycle's to turn the two front wheels. The car was designed as part of the Missouri SuperMileage Challenge.

The cellphone maker, which agreed to be bought by Google Inc for $12.5 billion, said on Friday that the rise was due to the successful splitting of Motorola into two companies last year to form Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions. Jha's pay package, including option awards, increased from about $13 million in 2010, the company said in its proxy filing on Friday. ...
