The company found Microsoft's Internet Explorer 9 to be the most popular browser in North America with a 21.2% share, and it was closely followed by Google Chrome 18 at 20.2%. Internet Explorer, however, featured a combined total of 40.4% of the North American browser market. Globally, Pingdom found that Chrome 18 is the most popular browser with a 25.6% share, leading Firefox 11 with 15.8% and Internet Explorer 9 and 8 with 15.7% and 14.6%, respectively. The service, to be called Google Drive, could be announced as soon as Tuesday and would be offered with both free and premium for-pay versions, the source said. SK Hynix, Toshiba held early talks on joint Elpida bid: source Posted: SEOUL (Reuters) - SK hynix was approached by Toshiba Corp to make a joint bid for troubled Elpida Memory Inc and the two firms held initial talks, but failed to proceed into more serious discussions, a source close to SK hynix said on Tuesday. The source declined to elaborate on why the discussions collapsed. SK hynix declined to comment. Other sources told Reuters earlier on Tuesday that Toshiba was no longer bidding for Elpida, leaving three foreign firms including SK hynix and Micron Technology in the race to take over the company. HTC may develop its own processors for low-end smartphones Posted: HTC may be looking to follow in Samsung and Apple's footsteps in developing its own processors, according to a rumor from China Times. The Taiwanese vendor has reportedly signed a "memorandum of cooperation" with ST-Ericsson to co-develop a new dedicated chip for low-end smartphones that will come out in 2013. The joint venture will help HTC reduce its reliance on Qualcomm and NVIDIA processors, which are predominantly featured in the company's current smartphone offerings. HTC, which has seen slumping sales, focused previously on the high-end market. DROID Incredible 4G LTE appears on Verizon site Posted: The HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE has been outed on Verizon's "Droid Does" website. The new Incredible is equipped with a 4-inch qHD Super LCD display, a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD slot and an 8-megapixel rear camera — possibly the same one found on HTC's One-series smartphones. The handset also runs HTC's latest Sense 4.0 skin atop Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. In line with Verizon's other 4G LTE smartphones, the latest Incredible will seemingly be offered for $299.99 alongside a new two-year agreement. The company plans to initially release 13 quad-core processors for desktop computers that it promises will offer more computational power while using less energy. Security firm identifies origins of ‘Flashback’ Mac virus Posted: The "Flashback" virus discovered to have infected more than 600,000 Mac computers earlier this month originated on a series of Wordpress blogs, security experts have determined. According to Alexander Gostev, head of the global research and analysis team at Kaspersky, the virus began as a trojan hidden within a fake Adobe software update. In March, however, the malware's creators repackaged the virus in a "drive-by attack" that infected users' Apple computers when they visited one of thousands of compromised Wordpress blogs.
