The revenue is part of an effort to step up collection of sales tax and use tax, which is aimed squarely at the shoulders of online shoppers. The state Department of Revenue will include a line on 2011 Pennsylvania income tax forms to allow residents to voluntarily pay their tax burden from purchases where tax was supposed to be collected but was not.
