Paedophile held for soliciting sex

Posted:

An HIV afflicted paedophile, who arranged online to have sex with three children, has been jailed in Britain as the 'contact' he was chatting with to fix the 'deal' was actually an undercover policeman

Steven King, who worked in the accounts department in a solicitors' office, made the two hour journey from his home thinking he was going to abuse the children aged five, six and 10, the Daily Mail reported.

The 30-year-old also bragged to the undercover officer that he had already raped a young boy aged just 13 years.

In a twisted message he told the policeman: "Any age, younger the better."

He was jailed for four years after admitting to have arranged the commission of child sex offences and two further counts of possessing indecent images.

French minister waves off hints of Strauss-Kahn setup

France's interior minister yesterday dismissed as 'pure fantasy' hints by associates of ex-IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn of a setup leading to his New York arrest on sexual assault charges.

"I would say that it is pure fantasy," said Claude Gueant. "I read Epstein's article. What does it say? That DSK lost his phone. It's not because one loses one's phone that there is a setup."

He was referring to an article by Edward Epstein in the New York Review of Books, in which sources said Strauss-Kahn suspected a smartphone that disappeared before his arrest had been hacked.

The article also has associates hinting that Strauss-Kahn may have been set up in order to discredit him ahead of presidential elections in France in 2012.

It describes camera footage showing an employee of the Sofitel hotel, where the sexual encounter was alleged to have taken place in Strauss-Kahn's room, high-fiving a colleague and appearing to perform a celebratory dance after listening to Diallo's testimony.

But Gueant dismissed any suggestions of a setup.

"I can assure you that French police were not among these two people," he said. "All of this is fantasy and I find it extraordinary... If there is someone who thinks there was a setup, he has only to file a complaint with the authorities and then we can stop with the rumours and innuendos."

Epstein said, "I didn't say it was a political conspiracy but I would say that people wanted to find evidence of an indiscretion of his that could derail either his candidacy or even (his work at) the IMF."

Strauss-Kahn was arrested on May 14 after being taken off a plane to Paris following a complaint by maid at the Sofitel hotel, Nafissatou Diallo, that he had attacked her.

Charges against Strauss-Kahn were dropped after prosecutors said Diallo had lied about details of her allegations, although evidence showed that some sort of hurried sexual encounter did occur.

Norway high school accused of 'apartheid'

A political row has broken out in Norway after a secondary school segregated students with ethnic backgrounds in classes away from white Norwegians.

Bjerke Upper Secondary School filled one of the three general studies sets solely with pupils with immigrant parents, after many white Norwegians from last year's intake changed schools.

"This is the first time I've heard about this, and it is totally unacceptable," Torge degaard, Oslo education commissioner, said, before pressuring the school to inform parents that the three classes would now be reorganised. The letter read, "Such a division of the students is not in accordance with the requirements of the Education Act. The school regrets this error."

But Robert Wright, former head of the city's schools board argued that the authorities had been wrong to block the move. He also said that other schools should start to segregate classes. "I think we have to try this to see how it's functioning. Bjerke School has come up with a radical solution to a real problem, but the politicians have just said 'no'."

The decision only came to the parents' notice earlier this month after Avtar Singh, a Punjabi Norwegian, confronted Gro Flaten, the school's headmistress, on why his son, had no ethnic Norwegian classmates. "She said that the school had experienced ethnic Norwegian students dropping out if they weren't grouped together in smaller classes," he said.

Students expressed their anger at the segregation. "This is apartheid. They do this because I'm from Africa and my father is from Africa," said Ilias Mohamed from Somalia, who was part of the immigrant-only class. But Helena Skagen, the head girl said, "They had the best intentions. They just wanted to keep the Norwegian students at school. But they now know that what they did was wrong because you can't split the students according to their culture."

The secret behind Kate's perfect smile

Duchess of Cambridge's dazzling smile is courtesy of a new procedure used by a French dentist who specialises in making teeth look not-so perfect

The secret to Kate Middleton's perfect smile is out -- and it's all to do with its gleaming imperfection.

Her pearly whites have long been the talk of the US and Canada but no-one knew exactly how the Duchess of Cambridge perfected her stunning smile.

Kate's pearly whites and the entire procedure takes about six weeks to
two years. File pic

It has now been revealed Kate picked a French dentistry expert whose speciality is creating an imperfect look to mould her mouth into shape.

Didier Fillion is a pioneering dentist who doesn't just whiten and straighten teeth but does what he calls 'micro-rotations'.

And according to Dr Fillion's friend and fellow dentist, Bernard Touati, it is this imperfection which makes Kate's smile so endearing.

He said, "You know why they look so good? Because they are not absolutely aligned. The problem in the US is they have a very artificial vision. He did some little micro-rotations on Kate Middleton [to produce] something which is natural. That is what we like; a natural healthy smile, but not artificial."

Dr Fillion's speciality is that he attaches invisible braces to the backs of teeth.

But the dentist said micro-rotation can be achieved quickly by grinding and polishing existing tooth enamel or by adding porcelain veneers.

Dr Fillion said creating the perfect smile can take from six months to two years and will set you back between 4,000 and 11,000 (Rs 3.25 to 8.90 lakh).

The dentist refuses to confirm or deny the Duchess was a patient.

He said: "We have the software so if you say, 'I don't like this tooth, can you change it?', I can change it."
