Govt to drill 8-km hole near Jaitapur nuclear plant

In a novel idea, the Ministry of Earth Sciences has decided to drill an 8-km drill hole a few hundred km from Jaitapur to try and forecast earthquakes. The drilling will be carried out at Koyna, which is close to Jaitapur. It will take 2.5 years to complete the project and it will cost Rs 300 crore.
