RK Laxman, India's greatest cartoonist and the man who touched the common man, has been admitted to hospital following a stroke in Pune. Laxman's work which spans over six decades chronicled India. He is best known for his fearless lampooning of politicians, from Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi during the repressive days of the Emergency, to Vajpayee and other leaders.

A man was shot and injured outside one of the largest Sikh temples in Canada at a time when a wedding ceremony was taking place at the shrine. Police and ambulance rushed to the scene at Guru Nanak temple in Surrey in British Columbia, one of the largest Sikh temples in North America, after shots rang out on Saturday afternoon during the ceremony.
