On directives of the National Human Right Commission cell in Uttar Pradesh, the state government has imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 each on a police officer and a doctor of the district jail here in connection with custodial death of a prisoner, officials said.The rights body ordered the state government to conduct an inquiry against the then SHO of Titawi police station Subodh Kumar and jail doctor A Saxena for the custodial death of Manoj Kumar two years ago, they said.

The Deccan police have arrested a 48-year-old security guard for allegedly raping a 27-year-old woman in a destitute home located on Karve Road at Erandwane.
