Former AIADMK Minister Venkatachalam has been murdered in Tamil Nadu's Pudukottai district on Thursday. He was hacked to death by a four-member gang at his house near Alangudi in Pudukottai. Venkatachalam was the tourism minister during Jayalalithaa's tenure.


France burqa ban passes last legal hurdle

France's top legal authority has approved a law banning full-face veils in public, the last hurdle for the ban, which aims to protect women's rights but has been criticised as stigmatising Muslims.
