Ayodhya verdict: Temple politics in Uttar Pradesh Posted: A day after the landmark Ayodhya verdict, the Home Minister, P Chidambaram made it clear that the resolution of the title suit has nothing to do with the criminal case against those who demolished the Babri Masjid in December 1992. While there was no violence after Thursday's judgement, there are now signs that some political parties have begun to give the verdict a political spin. |

Ayodhya the day after its dramatic verdict Posted: The morning after its crucial real estate dispute was decided in a 10,000 page verdict, Ayodhya goes about its business as usual. The Allahabad High Court ruled that the disputed 2.7 acres is the birthplace of Lord Ram, and that the land should be divided between Hindus and Muslims. LK Advani of the BJP said, hours after the verdict, "In so far as the judgement upholds the right of the Hindus to construct a temple, it is a significant step forward toward the construction of a grand temple of the birthplace of Lord Ram." |

‘A small piece of land where angels fear to tread’ Posted: "Here is a small piece of land where angels fear to tread...It is full of innumerable landmines". This is how Justice Sibghat Ullah Khan described the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute in a prelude to his judgement and likened it to a 1,500-sq yard minefield which he and his brother judges had to clear. |
