According the MCV, Sony saw a 138% increase in PlayStation 3 sales with the release of its smaller, lighter game console in the United Kingdom. What's more, MCV says that the 500GB model also accounted for 37% of all PlayStation 3 sales last week, which is particularly impressive since the slimmer model was only released this past Friday. Apple targeted with patent suit over Passbook Posted: 02 Oct 2012 06:45 PM PDT Software development company Ameranth has filed a patent complaint in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California against Apple (AAPL) over its Passbook service in iOS 6, AppleInsider reports. The company claims that Passbook violates four of its U.S. patents concerning "information management and synchronous communications system." Ameranth, which sells software and services to the hospitality, gaming and food services industries, has asserted three of the patents in several other cases against Apple's business partners, such as Fandango, OpenTable and Ticketmaster.
