'Knocked anyone down lately?' Prince Philip asks disabled man on scooter Posted: Prince Philip (in pic) displayed his waspish humour yesterday when he asked a man on a mobility scooter, "How many people have you knocked over this morning on that thing?" The Duke of Edinburgh showed he was back on form after his health problems when he joked with David Miller on a Diamond Jubilee visit with the Queen to Redbridge in London. 60-year-old Miller, and those standing around him in the crowd, who had all been waiting to see the royals, erupted in laughter. Miller, who has difficulties walking, due to a spinal problem, said after Philip had moved on, "That is just typical from the Duke. He is renowned for his humour but no offence was taken, it was all in good humour. I told him no, your Royal Highness, I had not knocked anyone down." The Queen received a rapturous welcome from cheering residents in the North West London borough, who came out to greet the monarch as she celebrated her Diamond Jubilee. |
Winehouse's parents inherit Rs 25-crore estate Posted: Pop star Amy Winehouse's parents, Mitch and Janis, will get her entire fortune as she never made a will. Winehouse left 3 million (Rs 25 crore) behind her when she died following a heavy drinking session last July. Her ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil, who Mitch has repeatedly and blamed for being a bad influence on his daughter, won't get anything. The couple married in May 2007 and had a damaging and tumultuous relationship before getting divorced in July 2009. Mitch has blamed Blake for introducing Amy to heroin and cocaine. He's been in and out of jail. |
Miniskirts = porn: Indonesian religious affairs minister Posted: Indonesia's Religious Affairs Minister Suryadharma Ali has declared that miniskirts are pornographic and would be banned under the country's tough new anti-porn laws. Backward step: Indonesia is preparing to ban mini-skirts under its tough anti-pornography laws 'because they make men do things'. Representation Pic/Thinkstock images Ali has been appointed to run Indonesia's new anti-porn task force, announced by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono earlier this month. He was quoted as telling reporters in Jakarta yesterday that before deciding what they must ban as pornography, the task force would consult widely to come up with "a set of universal criteria". He added that "one [criteria] will be when someone wears a skirt above the knee". Once a standard of pornography was established, the task force would apply it nationwide across all ethnicities. The President announced the anti-pornography task force earlier this month to try to remove it entirely from Indonesia. |
