Terror victim's saviour arrested Posted: When Hyderabad was reeling from bomb blasts in 2007, Papalal who was working nearby found a little girl, then four-years-old, at the Gokul Chat Centre blast site. Papalal, a painter of Hindu Gods and Goddesses for temple walls, and his wife, Jayshree, figured out that the child was a Muslim and had been orphaned. They took her home where she lived with the couple. They had been childless for five years and they believed that her coming to their home as a firstborn brought them good luck and Jayshree soon became pregnant with their first biological child. She was their eldest child, they told everybody. And they named her Anjali.
Another telecom controversy for DMK, this time it's Maran Posted: Dayanidhi Maran, the Textiles Minister and a senior leader of the DMK, has denied reports that he misused his office as Telecom Minister to establish a virtual telephone exchange of nearly 300 phone lines at his house which were then secretly made available for use to Sun TV, which is owned by his brother, Kalanidhi Maran.

Comparisons to Gandhi land chief minister in trouble Posted: For years, supporters of Ashok Gehlot have referred to him - mainly at public events - as "the Gandhi of Marwar". But now the Chief Minister of Rajasthan has run into trouble over the title. A question in an entrance exam at a government college in Ajmer asked students to guess "Who is the Gandhi of Marwar." Mr Gehlot was listed as one of the options.

Rs 25,000 crore bet on monsoon Posted: Mumbai will soon play host to the bookie community from across the country, who will visit the city to accept bets and cash-in on the monsoon season. According to punters, the Monsoon will hit the city between June 11 and June 13. According to insiders, local bookies are no longer interested in betting on the Monsoon and, hence, punters from other states are taking over. The visiting bookies are likely to mix business with pleasure and occupy posh hotels across the city. Close to Rs 25,000 crore is expected to change hands in the next four months.
