LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Nicole Richie's day in court won't be today. The hearing for which she's seeking a permanent restraining order against a paparazzo has been continued to December 21.

Richie's attorney, Mark Geragos, who was present in court today with two witnesses, confirmed the news of the continuance.

Former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi is writing a memoir about her time at the judges' table.

The book, titled A Helluva High Note: Surviving Life, Love, and American Idol, will be published by It Books, a division of HarperCollins, a rep for the publisher confirms.
