The Bard’s Tale tops Android Games of the Week Posted: 23 Sep 2012 10:56 AM PDT We had some great surprise hits this week, not the least of which is a port of The Bard's Tale. It's a great, humor-based action RPG that pits you in the role of a vulgar anti-hero, and it's just awesome all around. We've also got several great iOS ports, from the challenging and unique platformer To-Fu 2, to the creative arcade style retro shooter Velocispider. We also have Ubisoft's very own retro revival of the original Prince of Persia, plus more. Here are this week's top Android games.

Foxconn China plant closed after worker disturbance Posted: 23 Sep 2012 08:25 PM PDT TAIPEI (Reuters) - Taiwan's Foxconn Technology Group closed its Taiyuan plant in northern China on Monday after a brawl involving possibly thousands of workers began in dormitory facilities early in the morning. The Taiyuan plant, which employs about 79,000 workers, makes parts for automotive electronics and assembles various electronic devices, according to Foxconn spokesman Louis Woo. "The fight is over now ... we're still investigating the cause of the fight and the number of workers involved," said Woo, adding that "involving a couple thousand workers is possible". ...

U.S. judge finds Rambus destroyed evidence in Hynix case Posted: 23 Sep 2012 06:10 PM PDT NEW YORK (Reuters) - Technology licensing company Rambus Inc destroyed records that could have been evidence in its patent dispute with South Korea's Hynix Semiconductor Inc, a U.S. judge ruled, but the court has not yet decided on a penalty for the American firm. Hynix said it believes the ruling will "substantially limit" the royalties it will be required to pay Rambus for infringing on the company's patents. Judge Ronald Whyte of the U.S. ...

Japan chipmaker Renesas flooded with buy orders on rescue hopes Posted: 23 Sep 2012 06:07 PM PDT TOKYO (Reuters) - Shares of Renesas Electronics Corp were untraded with a glut of buy orders on Monday after sources said a Japanese government fund, as part of a consortium including Toyota Motor Corp, was considering a bailout of the troubled chipmaker. Such a plan would counter a 100 billion yen ($1.3 billion) bid for Renesas by private equity firm KKR, which is in talks to buy a majority stake in the world's leading manufacturer of microcontroller chips used in cars, sources told Reuters last month. Renesas was notionally quoted at 336 yen, up nearly a third from Friday's close of 256 yen. ...
