Heaviest rains in 60 years kill 10 in Beijing: media Posted: 21 Jul 2012 07:51 PM PDT BEIJING (Reuters) - The heaviest rain storm in six decades to hit the Chinese capital killed at least 10 people and caused widespread chaos, flooding streets and stranding 80,000 people at the city's main airport, state media reported on Sunday. The storm, which started on Saturday afternoon and continued late into the night, flooded major roads and sent torrents of water tumbling down steps into underpasses. In the Beijing suburb of Tongzhou, two people died in a roof collapse and another person killed was struck by lightning, the official Xinhua news agency reported. ... |

At least 18 killed in bus accident in India Posted: 21 Jul 2012 11:34 PM PDT GUWAHATI, India, Jul (Reuters) - A bus plunged into a gorge after landslides in India's northeastern state of Mizoram, killing at least 18 people and injuring dozens, a police official said on Sunday. The accident took place on Saturday near Keifang village, close to the border with Myanmar and more than 100 km (60 miles) from the state capital Aizwal, the official, L.R. Sailo, said.
