Website gives bloodthirsty tips to SA vampires! Posted: An online news site is giving ideas to vampires as what to do when they crave for blood in South Africa "Most butcher departments in the kind of store you'll find in a mall will refuse point blank to supply anyone with cast-off blood from meat they package," was the comment published earlier this month on SA Vampyre News. "Some will say this is for health reasons. Others because they harbour religious taboos about blood consumption." A piece entitled "The Vampire's Survival Guide - Surviving on Animal Blood" told local vampires how to obtain blood if there are shortages, reports News24.com. One article explained how they could protect their identity; another is about "donors" - people who cut themselves to give blood to vampires. It reads: "Another way to satisfy the hunger is to eat out and order a steak rare or even 'blue'- which is basically raw, just introduced to the grill for a micro-second. Some say it's nought but a placebo, but if it's fresh and still contains some blood, it can help.
SA man presumed dead wakes up in mortuary Posted: An asthmatic patient, who was presumed to be dead by his family, woke up miraculously inside a mortuary of Eastern Cape, South Africa Eastern Cape health department spokesperson Sizwe Kupelo said that the man, whose name has been withheld, fell unconscious while asleep at home. "His family thought he had died," 24.com quoted Kupelo as telling Sapa. "The family called a private undertaker who took what they thought was a dead body to the morgue, but the man woke up inside the morgue on Sunday at 17:00 and screamed, demanding to be taken out of the cold place," he added. Kupelo said the two mortuary attendants initially felt it was his ghost, as he had been lying there for nearly 24 hours, but later on they discovered that he was indeed alive. "We sent an ambulance to the funeral parlour to take the man to Saint Barnabas Hospital because he had been exposed to extreme cold for nearly 24 hours," added Kupelo. (
Posted: One is quite amused. As the head of the royal family, Queen Elizabeth receives lots of fan mail from children with burning questions about what it's like to be Queen.
Posted: Queen doesn't approve of Kate's headless wedding dress display "It's horrid, isn't it? Horrible it's dreadful." That was Queen Elizabeth's comment to Kate Middleton when the two took a sneak preview tour of the royal wedding dress exhibition that opened to the public at Buckingham Palace on July 23. Though the beauty of the exhibit objects is unquestioned, it was the setup that apparently left the monarch cold. "It's made to look very creepy," she added. Kate's diplomatic response? She told the queen it had a "3D effect." It seems likely the Queen objected not without reason it must be said to the fact that the mannequin the dress is fitted to does not have a head. With the veil and tiara that Kate wore hovering just above and a spotlight shining down on the entire ensemble, there is definitely a sort of eerie 'headless bride' feel to the display. According to reports, 600,000 people have already paid 17.50 (R1,250) for an advance ticket, which makes Kate's wedding dress display by far the most popular annual exhibit ever at Buckingham Palace. The exhibition runs through October 3.
Mafia banned from wearing designer clothes in prison Posted: A newly-appointed prison governor in Italy has cracked down on convicted mafia mobsters wearing designer label clothes to flaunt their wealth and status. Rita Barbera, the new governor of Ucciardone jail in Palermo, the capital of Sicily, has said the practise of prisoners wearing Gucci, Armani and other designer clothes, as well as flashy jewellery, must stop. Unlike many countries, prisoners in Italian jails are not required to wear uniforms. Lax conditions at the 19th century prison, where one mafia godfather is reported to have celebrated his birthday with Champagne and lobster, have earned it the nickname 'The Grand Hotel'. The relaxed regime prompted comparisons with the Hollywood film Goodfellas, starring Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci, whose characters lived the high life even behind bars. Barbera said she will no longer tolerate prisoners, many of them members of the Cosa Nostra mafia, showing off their status with Louis Vuitton jackets, Valentino silk shirts and Adidas and Nike trainers. "In the collective memory, this prison has been linked to images of godfathers wearing silk clothes, and this is something we need to snuff out," the governor said. "We need to eliminate disparities between prisoners, which has been expressed through exhibitions of status, power and economic supremacy." But the crackdown has already sparked indignation from inmates and their families. One woman complained, "My husband will have to walk around naked because he only has designer clothes, not to show off but because they're of better quality and they last longer. Why humiliate him in this way and make me go and buy all his clothes in street markets?"
One-day-old baby has heart operation Posted: A day-old baby has become one of the youngest children in Britain to have open-heart surgery. Rudy Maxwell-Jones went under the knife so surgeons could unblock an aortic valve. "His life was hanging in the balance," Janette Shiel, his mother said. "It's a real miracle he's still here. There were 20 intensive care staff working to stabilise him but he pulled through."

Almost a year since their ordeal captured the hearts of the world, the men have reportedly signed a deal with a major production company. The Chilean miners have sold the film rights to the producer of Black Swan The men have sold the film rights to the Hollywood producer responsible for the Oscar winning movie Black Swan and have promised to give a no-holds-barred account of their ordeal. "This is the only official and authorised film about how we lived in the San Jose mine," said Juan Andres Illanes, one of 'Los 33', as they have become known. "Much of our story has never been told." "Like millions of people around the world, I was completely engrossed watching the rescue at Copiapo," Medavoy, who lived in Chile as a child, said in a statement. "At its heart, this is a story about the triumph of the human spirit and a testament to the courage and perseverance of the Chilean people. I can't think of a better story than this one to bring to the screen." The film will be based on the writings of one of the miners, Victor Segovia, a 49-year-old father of four. Oscar-nominated screenwriter Jose Rivera, who penned the screenplay for the 2004 drama The Motorcycle Diaries has been signed up to adapt the story for the big screen.
Wine & sex romp plans before killing spree Posted: Norwegian far-right extremist Anders Breivik was saving a bottle of vintage wine and Rs 1.30 lakh to spend on two 'high-class' prostitutes before his mission
He said he wanted to spend the money on a 'high quality model escort' because it would help put him at ease ahead of the atrocity. Hiring a prostitute was part of his preparation for Friday's atrocity. "I will probably arrange that just before or after I attend my final martyrs mass in Frogner Church," he wrote. "It will contribute to ease my mind as I imagine I will be tense and very nervous. It is easier to face death if you know you are biologically, mentally and spiritually at ease." He also planned to drink the last of his three bottles of 1979 Chateau Kirwan. "My thought was to save the last flask for my last martyrdom celebration and enjoy it with the two high-class model whores I intend to rent prior to the mission," he wrote. In the 1,500-page manifesto Breivik demanded a new 'crusade' against the spread of Islam in Europe and vowed 'every single multiculturalist traitor in Western Europe' will be punished for their 'treasonous acts'. In an entry last month he described carrying out a test explosion. He also boasted about lying on an application form to buy a powerful semi-automatic weapon, claiming he just wanted to hunt deer instead of "executing category A and B cultural Marxists/multiculturalist traitors". German hero Marcel Gleffe, a German tourist has been hailed as a hero after sailing straight in the line of gunfire to save up to 30 lives during the massacre. |
