| Scribe stages own rape to cure rape victim's PTSD Posted: A US journalist staged her own rape to cure a post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which had been brought about by a Haitian woman's real sex attack Mac McClelland met a woman she called Sybille who had been raped at gunpoint and brutally mutilated by a gang of men when she visited Haiti to report on rape victims a year after the 2010 earthquake. According to ABC, she became progressively enveloped in the classic symptoms of post-traumatic stress, avoidance of feelings, flashbacks and recurrent thoughts that triggered crying spells. There were smells that made her gag. The Mother Jones civil rights reporter told a therapist in her home of San Francisco that all she wanted to do was have incredibly violent sex. Following the stage violence rape after the approval of her therapist, McClelland believes that she was cured. In an article she wrote for the online magazine 'Good', she explained how her sexual partner mercilessly pinned her, beat her about the head and brutally violated her. "I did not enjoy it in the way a person getting screwed normally would. But as it became clear that I could endure it, I started to take deeper breaths," the Daily Mail quoted her as saying. "And my mind stayed there, stayed present even when it became painful, even when he suddenly smothered me with a pillow, not to asphyxiate me but so that he didn't break my jaw when he drew his elbow back and slammed his fist into my face. Two, three, four times. "My body felt devastated but relieved; I'd lost, but survived. After he climbed off me, he gathered me up in his arms. I broke into a thousand pieces on his chest, sobbing so hard that my ribs felt like they were coming loose.' "I was not crazy. It was a way for me to deal in sort of a simulated, but controlled situation. I could say "stop" at any time. But it was still awful, and the body doesn't understand when it's in a fight," she added.

| World's narrowest house in Poland is just 60 inches wide Posted: Architects of a house built in an alleyway in Poland have claimed that it is the world's narrowest as it is just 60 inches wide The home, which comes complete with bedroom, lounge, bathroom and kitchen, is so narrow that the builders have abandoned a traditional staircase in favour of a ladder. Each of the four storeys goes back nearly 40ft with a room on each floor of the apartment, crammed into an alley between an old tenement block and a tower block in Warsaw, Poland. "I saw the gap and just thought it needed filling. It will be used by artists," the Daily Mail quoted architect Jakub Szczesny as saying. The first resident will be Israeli writer Etgar Keret after British historian Norman Davies turned down the chance to live there. The world's official narrowest house, The Wedge, on the island of Great Cumbrae off Scotland's North Ayrshire coast, measures just 47 inches at the front - but spreads to 22ft as it moves back from the road. It was sold as a holiday home in 2000 for 27,000 pounds. "Ours is the same all the way through, so we are narrower for longer," one of the Polish design team said. |
| Dalai Lama will live to be 113 Posted: An oracle has predicted that the Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama will live to be 113, the Tibetan cabinet said on his 76th birthday Wednesday The prediction was made by Nechung, recognised as the state oracle by the Tibetan government-in-exile which is based here. The oracle, however, underlined that the Dalai Lama's age would depend on the deeds and conduct of the Tibetan people, a statement said. "We would like to urge all Tibetans to engage in actions that will not breach the wishes of His Holiness and work hard in preserving our traditional values," it said. Born July 6, 1935 at Taktser hamlet in northeastern Tibet, the Dalai Lama was recognised at the age of two as the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama Thubten Gyatso. He fled Tibet after a failed uprising against Communist rule in 1959. His government-in-exile here never got recognition from any country. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 for his non-violent campaign for democracy and freedom in his homeland. India is home to around 100,000 Tibetans. Nechung the oracle left Tibet along with the Dalai Lama. |
