A relative and panchayat leader of Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu's Assembly constituency has identified his body, according to Union Minister for Development of North Eastern region B K Handique.

Arunachal Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu dead: Five days after the helicopter that he was using went missing, Arunachal Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu has been found dead in Luguthang, near the China border. A government official and a relative of Mr Khandu have identified his body.


Aircraft overshoots runway in Mizoram

A plane with 11 people on board overshot the runway at Lengpui Airport in Mizoram this morning. The passengers and two pilots have all been hospitalized; their injuries are not reported to be serious. The plane, which belonged to a company named North East Shuttle Services, has been severely damaged.

Following the loss of contact with the helicopter carrying the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Dorjee Khandu and five others (including two pilots) on Saturday, 30th April, 2011, a massive search operation was launched. The search operations are being carried out by teams from the Army, ITBP, SSB, Arunachal Pradesh Police, NDRF and grazers from Arunachal Pradesh.
