David Beckham's son wants to name sister after Justin Beiber Posted: Victoria Beckham's unborn daughter already has a long list of potential names and now brother Romeo has come up with another one, Justine Beiber Beckham. The second of the three Beckham siblings is a huge fan of the 'Baby' hit maker and has told father, footballer David Beckham, that he wants his sister to be named after the singer. Beckham was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel's chat show and said that middle son Romeo wants to pay tribute to his idol with the name. The footballer told his host that he and Victoria had a few names in mind for their daughter, who Victoria is due to give birth to this summer. "When we got told it was a boy, my middle son Romeo said, 'How about Justin Bieber as a name? Justin Bieber Beckham?' So now we know it's a girl, he said, 'Well, how about Justine Bieber Beckham?'," said the footballer. He said Romeo, who is eight, and his six-year-old brother Cruz were big fans of the pop star and had met him at his concert. Beckham was accompanied to the show by Victoria, Romeo and Cruz, but explained that his oldest son Brooklyn, 12, was at football try outs. |

Posted: Her character is a cussing, conniving, boozing, schoolmarm who calls her students morons As big-screen teachers go, Cameron Diaz will not be joining, say, Sidney Poitier or Sandy Dennis as inspiring role models to her classroom kids. The title of Diaz's school comedy pretty much sums up her character: "Bad Teacher." Diaz's Elizabeth Halsey is a cussing, conniving, boozing, even skanky schoolmarm who calls her students morons as she hurls their test papers at them, dresses like a stripper for a class car wash and has only one educational goal: to get her hooks into a rich substitute teacher. He's played by Diaz's real-life ex, Justin Timberlake. "Bad Teacher" arrives just in time for summer vacation, debuting in theaters June 24. Diaz, who stopped by theatre owners' CinemaCon convention Wednesday in Las Vegas to collect an award as female star of the year, described her character's life as "one big F-bomb." "This woman is so wrong but so right," Diaz, 38, said in an interview. "She says and does everything you wish you could say, and does it just irreverently. She doesn't really care, and sometimes, I think people want to walk through life not really caring." So how does a woman like that end up a teacher, a hallowed profession in such big-screen dramas as Poitier's "To Sir, With Love" and Dennis' "Up the Down Staircase"? "According to her, she thought she was doing it for all the right reasons. She has no accountability, she has the summers off," Diaz said. "The system allowed it to happen, and she took advantage of it. She could kind of skim by and get the sort of minimal out of the minimal that she was giving, enough for her to go and chase her dreams of marrying a rich man." Timberlake's the wealthy heir Diaz's character pursues while he's slumming as a sub, and Jason Segel co-stars as a gym teacher whose advances she rebuffs. Diaz, who is about to begin shooting the heist romp "Gambit," co-starring Colin Firth and Alan Rickman, said there was no awkwardness acting opposite ex-boyfriend Timberlake. "We wanted the best person for the job, and Justin was that person," said Diaz. "He's such a great comedian. He's proven himself over and over again. We all knew what he would deliver on this and how great he would be. "The only thing that I think we were concerned with was what people would make up. The stories that people would make up about us. We were hoping that wouldn't happen, because we're there to work, and we didn't want to have to be distracted by any of those things. And fortunately, for the most part, the media behaved themselves." Diaz had fun cutting loose with streams of profanity on the set. But her character's raunchy language was not exactly foreign to her. "I don't think I've ever pretended to have, like, a clean mouth," Diaz said. "I've always had to sort of curb my usage of the words that are not allowed on screen often. I do definitely have to watch my language. I've gotten better over the years, but where I grew up, you kind of had to be able to use those words." |
'Aliens to drop in for Wills-Kate Wedding' Posted: Former Royal Air Force major forecasts UFO sightings at Westminster Abbey on April 29 Prince William and Kate Middleton's royal wedding is expected to be viewed by over a billion people around the world but also by a few UFOs, according to a retired Air Force major. Former military officer George Filer runs the National UFO Centre and says it's common to see the extraterrestrials around important events, and is highly possible they may be watching the royal wedding too. George Filer claims aliens will be present at Wills-Kate's wedding as they take interest in anything big and the royal family has shown interest in extra terrestrials Filer said, "The craft seem to have an interest in anything important. They've been sighted recently over Libya and near the Japanese tsunami." He says his UFO Centre tracks over 1,000 sightings each month and has been getting reports from British Royal Air Force pilots over the past few weeks, who reported seeing UFOs over the English Channel. Filer is also expecting sightings around Westminster Abbey on April 29 because he says the royal family have shown interest in UFOs. Filer claimed that Prince William's grandfather told him that his uncle, the Earl Mountbatten, had seen some UFOs up close. A renowned investigator of crop circles in Britain during the 1980s also backs Filer's claims of the royal family's interest in UFOs. He said, "Prince Philip and the Queen are particularly interested in the subject. And their interest seems to be based on personal experiences." Andrews claims the Queen even sent him a letter confirming her reading the book, but says the British government and royal family officials have denied their interest in UFOs. Lego tribute The smallest tribute yet has been paid to Prince William and Kate Middleton's royal wedding miniature Lego figures depicting the happy couple. The royal wedding scene also includes crowds, guests and members of the royal family on Buckingham Palace's famous balcony. It took model makers at Legoland Windsor more than 30 hours to make the tribute to William and Kate's nuptials using 10,000 bricks. No ring for William Prince William is going to eschew the modern-day tradition of men wearing wedding bands. A spokeswoman at the palace said, "There is only going to be one ring, in accordance with the couple's wishes." Kate Middleton will wear a ring made of Welsh gold. |
Thai navy rescues 800 stranded tourists Posted: Thailand's navy used helicopters and an aircraft carrier yesterday to rescue more than 800 tourists stranded by heavy rains on the country's picturesque southern islands. Nearly a week of torrential rains has caused flooding and landslides in southern Thailand that killed at least 17 Thais and left tourists stranded on islands in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand, where ferry services were cancelled because of rough water. Foreign tourists board buses at Sattahip navy base after around 800 of them were evacuated The flooding has affected 8,40,000 people in eight southern provinces and inundated 61 highways, said the Department of Disaster Prevention. The navy said it also rescued more than a hundred people from other islands. Thai TV coverage showed parents clutching their babies on the aircraft carrier's deck and smiling backpackers giving a thumbs-up and taking pictures of their military rescue. US, Australian, French, British and Russian citizens were among those rescued, the Tourism Ministry said. The weather bureau forecasted the rain would stop this weekend.
