SongPop is a precious little diversion for a few minutes at a time Posted: 01 Aug 2012 04:00 PM PDT A nice little niche has been established in the mobile world by games that let us compete directly against our friends while not forcing us to look at our phone right this minute all the time. Words With Friends and Draw Something are the most notable, but newcomer SongPop is looking to carve itself a piece of that action. And I must say it's looking pretty good so far. |
RIM says has not compromised BlackBerry security in India Posted: 01 Aug 2012 08:31 PM PDT TORONTO (Reuters) - Research in Motion refuted on Wednesday a new round of Indian media reports, which claim that the BlackBerry maker has granted the Indian government the encryption keys to its secure corporate email and messaging services. India is one of the Canadian smartphone maker's few growing markets, where it is expanding aggressively. The company is facing falling sales elsewhere as customers abandon the BlackBerry in favor of Apple's iPhone and a slew of devices using Google Inc's Android software, leading to RIM's shares falling by more than 50 percent over the past one year. ... |

Dropbox admits recent security breach led to spam attacks Posted: 01 Aug 2012 06:30 PM PDT A couple of weeks ago, Dropbox users began to complain about receiving spam in email accounts created exclusively for the service. After investigating the issue, Dropbox confirmed that a small number of accounts were affected by a recent security breach. "Our investigation found that usernames and passwords recently stolen from other websites were used to sign in to a small number of Dropbox accounts," the company wrote on its website. "We've contacted these users and have helped them protect their accounts." The cloud storage provider believes that a stolen password was used to access an employee Dropbox account that contained a document with users' email addresses. While Dropbox itself wasn't hacked, it is puzzling that employees keep unencrypted lists of |
