A dentist couple was on their way to honeymoon but ended up in police net. Vinod Kumar (31), son of a head constable in UP Police, and Meenakshi (29) were arrested here on Sunday for allegedly attempting to murder her ex-boyfriend, Ravindra, a doctor.

There appears to be no end to her miseries. 35-year-old Palam Colony resident, Jyoti Jaiswal, who has alleged that her father-in-law wants to have sex with her, now says he wants to kill her. A mother of two, Jyoti on Sunday morning called the PCR and registered a complaint that her father-in-law had badly beaten her up and was trying to kill her.

A 30-year-old man was shot at and critically injured at Noida's Sector 28 on Sunday evening. According to reports, Tushar Gaur, a businessman from Gurgaon was in the area to meet some of his relatives. As he drove his silver Honda City near gate number 3 of Sector 28 in Noida, two persons walked in front of his vehicle.

In a telling example of superstition's continued stranglehold over society, a constable's wife approached fortune tellers and self-styled godmen to find out who had stolen jewellery from her house rather than filing a complaint with the police. She even allegedly abused and threatened a neighbour, Lata Nagotkar, after one of the women, who claimed to be possessed by a deity, told her that she was the thief. Nagotkar has now filed a non-cognisable (NC) complaint with the Vikhroli police against Seema and Surendra Gaonkar, who is a constable with the Antop Hill police.

Railway cops abduct Chinese tourist, dump her in field

Two railway policemen abducted a 19-year-old Chinese tourist from this Punjab city Sunday. The girl was later found in an unconscious state in a field on the outskirts of Amritsar, a police official said on Monday. The two railway policemen and a taxi driver are on the run.
