Dead foetus found in airplane toilet

Posted:

A dead male foetus was found in the toilet of an aeroplane that arrived in the Philippines from Abu Dhabi, a police report said on Tuesday.

The 5 to 6-month-old foetus was discovered by a cleaner on the Etihad Airways plane after it landed at Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Monday, the report said.

Police investigators were quoted as saying they had not yet identified the mother, who could face criminal charges if she deliberately terminated her pregnancy.

There are hundreds of thousands of Filipinos working in Abu Dhabi.

In September, airport personnel recovered a baby boy in the trash can of another plane from Abu Dhabi after his Philippine mother abandoned him after giving birth during the flight.

World's heaviest man became 'foodie' to heal broken heart

Posted:

Paul Mason, the world's heaviest man who recently lost 127 kilogram after undergoing life-saving gastric bypass surgery, said he went on a massive eating binge after the love of his life dumped him.

The Herald Sun quoted 50-year-old Mason, who earlier weighed as much as 444 kg, as saying that he started eating 24 hours a day because he desperately wanted to ease his heartache.

The death of his father and the failing health of his mother made the situation worse. He started eating 10 times more than the average man's normal diet, the paper said.

"You could say that I ate to fill a crack in my heart. I couldn't cope, but couldn't admit it. I turned to food. I got comfort from chewing food. I was like a baby and wanted constant feeding," Mason said.

However, now after going through surgery, he hopes to teach others not to follow his example and hopes to find love again.

The former postman had part of his stomach stapled off so that all the food that he ate went into a small 'pouch', vastly restricting the amount he could eat. He was driven 143 miles in an ambulance with reinforced beds to have the operation at the specialist St Richard's Hospital in Chichester, the paper said.

Doctors had reportedly put him under strict diet so that they could safely operate him.

Yesterday, he celebrated his success by making a rare trip from his home in Ipswich, Suffolk after losing an incredible 127 kg of weight in just a year.

Wives beat up man for planning his 5th marriage

Posted:

A man in Pakistan's Punjab province was publicly beaten up by his two wives, who claimed that he is about to marry for the fifth time.

Mian Ishaq, a resident of Gujranwala city, was attending a friend's wedding reception with his third wife when his two other wives Mehvish and Uzma gate-crashed with dozens of relatives and beat him up before the guests yesterday.

"We know that he is trying to marry a fifth time and he should be publicly humiliated for his behaviour," Uzma told reporters. TV news channels beamed footage of the two women beating Ishaq with shoes. Ishaq and his friend own a soap-making factory. Uzma and Mehvish are currently engaged in a litigation against Ishaq in a district court. Ishaq dismissed the claims of the two women that he had a fourth wife and was planning to marry again.

"This is a blatant lie. I am willing to swear on my life that I only have three wives." Ishaq said he lives with his third wife Fauzia and the other two had filed for divorce. "I have three wives and this is in accordance with Islam," he said.

The two other wives had spread a rumour that he had married a fourth time in secret, he alleged. "They have already invented one wife for me and now are trying to convince people that I am trying for a fifth," Ishaq was quoted as saying by The Express Tribune newspaper. Ishaq claimed his first wife Uzma had wanted to sell off his house and that is why she and his second wife Mehvish had conspired against him. "That is why they filed a case against me in court when I married my wife Fauzia," he said.

Uzma, Mehvish and Ishaq were arrested for disrupting the reception and taken to a police station for questioning. Ishaq later gave the police his marriage certificates. A police officer said: "We are verifying if he has contracted other marriages but so far we have no proof against him."

Conman says he had sex with over 2,500 women

A notorious conman in Britain, who pretended to be friends with Bond actor Pierce Brosnan and singer Robbie Williams, has claimed he had sex with 2,500 women.

By posing as a wealthy hospital consultant, a barrister and a merchant banker, 48-year-old Paul Bint - nicknamed "King Con" - boasted he earned two million pounds from his life of crime.

Among Bint's unwitting victims were those who fell for his spectacular lie that he was actually the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Daily Mail reported.

In reality, Bint's only known legitimate occupation was when he briefly trained as a hairdresser in his teens.

He said his ability to suit his appearance and lifestyle to back up his audacious lies caused women to fall in love with him.

"I would imagine there are some of them who may be never got over that betrayal and find it very hard to trust another man. So I feel exceptionally ashamed for the hurt I have caused. If I could go back 25 years and start again, I would," he said.

Bint's criminal record dates back to the age of 15. He stole a stethoscope at the age of 21 and went on to pose as a doctor in hospital wards.

He also claimed to be the Duke of Arundel to obtain a Ferrari. But his favourite modus operandi has been playing the role of a barrister.

Bint claims to have spent two million pounds on super cars, diamond jewellery and five-star holidays using fake or stolen credit cards.

He kept 10 different girlfriends at one time using separate aliases.

The conman, paraphrasing T.E. Lawrence, said: "All men dream - it only becomes dangerous when those dreams turn into reality."

"What I've done is turned a lot of my dreams into reality. I've gone that extra step. Instead of fantasizing what it would be like to own a Ferrari I went out and got one," he said.

Bint, who lives in Windsor, Berkshire, used dozens of aliases and pretended to be friends with Bond actor Pierce Brosnan and singer Robbie Williams.

"I've been with maybe 2,500 women," he said, but added "I'm not one of these people who keeps a running tally".

"There have been occasions when I've had 10 women on the go at one time and spun each of them a different story so being in contact with them all as a different person really takes some doing."

Bint said he maintained his cover by reading up on his chosen profession.

But he denied profiting from his long-running scams, insisting all the tricks he pulled were spent on experiences he enjoyed there and then itself.

Goldman deal values Facebook at $50 billion

Goldman Sachs has invested $450 million in Facebook in a deal that values the US social network site at $50 billion (Rs 2.2 lakh crore).

The investment bank is to invest its own money in the company Mark Zuckerberg set up from his university digs. It is understood it may allow private investors to take a stake through a special purpose vehicle.

Russian group, Digital Sky Technologies has also invested $50 million.

Despite attempts by Facebook's chief executive Zuckerberg to scotch rumours of a flotation, Goldman Sachs is now widely accepted to be the frontrunner to lead a listing should it occur.

While Facebook may not be keen to undertake a full listing it could find its hand being forced.

A secondary market in the company's shares has already been built up. In November $40 million of shares were traded on private exchange, SecondMarket.

The US regulator Securities and Exchange Commission has already started an inquiry into whether the shadow market in the shares of Facebook and other private technology companies such as Twitter and LinkedIn.

Facebook does not publish accounts, however experts estimate the company could be making a profit and have revenue of as much as $2 billion per year.

The $50 billion valuation puts Zuckerberg's personal fortune at around $14 billion.

Queen Elizabeth, a YouTube hit

The Christmas video message by the Queen in 1957 has received more than one million views on the website

The Royal family launched a dedicated channel on the video-sharing website in 2007.

This winter it passed a milestone of nine million views, thanks in part to the Queen's most recent Christmas Day broadcast, which has been viewed 82,000 times.

However, it is the historic 1957 address that has proved the most popular, receiving almost 1.2 million hits.
Broadcast from Sandringham in grainy black and white, the seven-minute message illustrates how times have changed.

The 31-year-old Queen, dressed in a three-stringed pearl necklace, spoke in clipped tones and glanced down at a written script as she expressed hopes that the "new medium" of television would bring her closer to her subjects.

"It is inevitable that I should seem a remote figure to many of you, a successor to the kings and queens of history.

Someone whose face is familiar in newspapers and films, but who never really touches your personal lives. But now, at least for a few minutes.

I welcome you to the peace of my own home," she said.

The Queen also called for the protection of religion and moral decency in Britain, in an age of rapid technological change.

"It is not the new inventions that are the difficulty.

The trouble is caused by unthinking people who carelessly throw away ageless ideals as if they were old and outworn machinery. They would have religion thrown aside, morality in personal and public life made meaningless."

One of the most recent videos uploaded to The Royal Channel features Prince William and Kate Middleton being interviewed about their engagement, It has received 43,000 hits.

A Buckingham Palace aide said, "The Royal Household is very forward thinking in embracing new technology. We are doing very well. The archive footage has proved the most popular."

Will Obamas have a baby this year?

That's what a famous Canadian psychic has predicted; her other prophecies Sarah Palin will get a divorce, Hillary to win Nobel

A leading psychic has predicted that there may be new force to be reckoned with in the White House this year a baby for US President Barack and Michelle Obama.

Canadian soothsayer Nikki claims to have predicted the collapse of Tiger Woods's marriage and the mine disaster in Chile. Now she has revealed her 2011 predictions.

The first couple may even have twins as siblings for daughters Malia and Sasha. The psychic said, "There will be a sense of togetherness and a return to family life."

Of course, she has also predicted danger for the existing Obama children and for the first family generally.
While the Obamas will be celebrating baby joy this year, the family isn't really firing at the other end of the political spectrum.

Nikki says that former vice- presidential candidate Sarah Palin will be heading for a particularly messy divorce.

The psychic would not give any more details such as the potential of a third person being involved in the split but, whatever the reasons, reality TV producers might want to start thinking of a way to market the break-up.

Other prophecies

In other political predictions, Nikki says that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Presumably, this will be for her efforts in trying to bring peace to the Middle East, and not for allegations that she ordered spies to check up on everyone in the United Nations.

The big news in the showbiz world, breathlessly accompanied with 'This is the year', is that Hollywood's most eligible bachelor George Clooney will finally get hitched.

But she said current girlfriend Elizabeth Canalis stands only a 50/50 chance of being the bride.

Nikki also said that showbiz power couple Warren Beatty and Annette Benning 'have outgrown each other' and will split up.

Playboy Hugh Hefner might be in the flush of his engagement to Crystal Harris, but Nikki says things could get a little hot at the Playboy mansion this year.

She says the notorious party palace will burn to the ground this year. She said, "This will probably be an accident... they get pretty crazy."

Doomsday

The most ominous prediction of all is that this year will probably be our last.

Nikki is not predicting the end of the Earth but says that 2012 will loom large over the year and may affect people's actions.

It is an infamously catastrophic year, with the celebrated Nostradamus and the ancient Mayans both predicting the world's end.

Will and Kate, subject of New London tour

As Royal wedding fever heats up in the UK, one tour operator has taken advantage of the growing global fascination of the newest Royal couple.

Celebrity Planet, a London-based tour operator, has launched a William and Kate tour, which chronicles the courtship of the famous young couple costing 15 (Rs 1,100).

Using sites of significance to both Prince William and Kate's relationship as well as the young royal's mother and father, Celebrity Planet has designed the two-hour tour around sentiment and drama.

Newcastle University graduate James Bonney owns the London-based company and said that celebrity tours are not a new idea.

He cites Harry Potter tours as an example and says that he is not concerned if others mimic is concept.

The tour begins at Bruton Street and heads to Albemarle Street stopping at sites like the jewellers where Princess Diana's blue sapphire engagement ring was purchased.

The 30-year old rock now sits on Kate Middleton's third finger and has become a Royal heirloom in its own right.

Winding around London, the tour also shows the site of Kate's great-grandfather's solicitor office and a series of shops on Dover Street that outline her career trajectory.

The tour even takes participants to the nightclub, where Prince William jumped on a table and shouted "I'm free" during a falling-out with Middleton in 2007.

Other stops on the tour include the site where Prince Charles celebrated his stag party just one night before marrying William's mother Diana.

Book delayed
The McCanns have put back publication of their book about their daughter Madeleine's disappearance to avoid clashing with the royal wedding. The couple's account of how the girl vanished in Portugal in 2007 was due to hit shops on April 28, just before the fourth anniversary of her disappearance. The book will now be published on May 12, the child's eighth birthday.
