Cars with Z in number plates crash the most

Posted:

Does your car have the alphabet Z in its registration number? If so, beware. A British study says vehicles with that letter are involved in the maximum number of accidents.

The last letter of the alphabet appears in three of the top five list of accident insurance claims in Britain, according to Elephant.co.uk, an insurance firm.

Z also features in two of the five most common plates in accidents where the driver was the innocent party, the Daily Mail reported.

The study was based on 643,939 accident claims - 429,870 at fault and 214,069 non-fault - handled by the firm.

Overall, vehicles with the combination NCZ were to blame for the most crashes, followed by DKY, AWZ, LGY and AAZ.

RMZ had the highest number of claims where the driver was not at fault.

NCZ drivers were to blame in 88 cases, while RMZ cars were hit in 44 instances.

Brian Martin, the firm's managing director, said: "I'm sure this is just a coincidence. We've got no plans to charge more for some registrations as a result."

Headley, Rana to admit plotting Mumbai attack at ISI's behest

Posted:

Pakistani-born Canadian citizen Tahawwur Hussain Rana and his accomplice David Headley are likely to admit during their trial in the US next month that they masterminded the Mumbai terror attack at the behest of Pakistan's spy agency ISI, according to a report Monday.

The trial of Rana and Headley begins in Chicago May 16. It was postponed in February at the request of Rana's lawyer.

"India-Pakistan tensions will likely be inflamed by a trial that's slated to begin in the United States next month: New court documents reveal that two terrorist operatives accused in the 2008 Mumbai massacre conspiracy are preparing to say they believed themselves to be working for Pakistani spies,'' according to the Globe and Mail newspaper here.

Rana, 49, who runs immigration service in Chicago with offices New York and Toronto, was arrested Oct 3 for plotting to attack the Danish newspaper that published the controversial cartoons of Prophet Muhammad in 2005.

Investigators found that Rana was also involved in helping David Headley, whose real name is Daood Gilani, in plotting the Mumbai terror attacks of November 2008 which left 160 people dead.

Headley had travelled to India for doing the surveillance work for the Lashkar-e-Toiba before the Mumbai terror attacks.

As India has all along suspected that Pakistan's ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) had a role in the terror attack, the report said, "Mr. Rana's trial threatens to lend an aura of credence to the suspicions of ISI complicity. According to court documents, the jury will hear the two Chicago conspirators say they believed themselves to be working for both LeT and the ISI.

"Previously secret testimony heard only by a grand jury is referred to in a decision published earlier this month.''

But Headley in his testimony to the grand jury has said, "I also told him (Mr Rana)... how I had been asked to perform espionage work for ISI,'' says the newspaper.

Having turned FBI informer to escape the death penalty, Headley will reveal the blow-by-blow of the Mumbai massacre surveillance scheme when he gives evidence against Rana, says the report.

Headley's testimony will reveal how he anglicized his Pakistani name, cultivated ties with LeT, videotaped sites in Mumbai, and briefed his handlers in Pakistan in the run-up to the carnage, according to the report.

About his entry into India under a "false flag" to scout targets, Headley has told the grand jury that "I told (Mr Rana) about my assignment to conduct surveillance in Mumbai. ... I explained to him that the immigration office would provide a cover story for why I was in Mumbai.''

To save himself, Rana has been struggling to explain away allegations that he gave Mr. Headley the papers that allowed him to pose as an immigration consultant.

But in his recent filings in his defence, Rana has argued "that he is a Pakistani patriot who was led to believe the ISI wanted his help - and therefore he should get the equivalent of diplomatic immunity.''

But Judge Harry Leinenweber ruled April 1 that Rana's defence is "objectively unreasonable."

"Defendant's proposed defence is that his alleged illegal acts of providing material support to terrorists - at least those related to the Mumbai attacks - were done at the behest of the Pakistani government and the ISI, not the Lashkar terrorist organization," reads the decision.

"He argues that he is entitled to a public-authority defence because he acted under the authority - whether actual or apparent - of the Pakistani government and the ISI.''

Meet the UK fish-taster whose tongue is worth 4m pounds!

Posted:

A fish-taster of a British seafood company is getting her tongue insured for more than 4 million pounds.

Bosses at Young's Seafood are so protective of worker Jenny Douglas's palate that they are willing to fork out 32,000 pounds a year for the unusual insurance policy.

It means her tongue, taste buds and sense of smell will be worth more than model Heidi Klum's 1,150,000-pounds-legs and singer Bruce Springsteen's 3,500,000-pounds-voice.

Douglas of Grimsby, tests 60 pieces of seafood each day as Young's chief fish-taster.

She protects her assets by avoiding spicy food, hot drinks and alcohol, which can reduce taste.

"I love my job. I make sure our products give customers the best, freshest and tastiest fish possible," the Daily Express quoted Douglas as saying.

"Even though I eat so much fish at work, I still enjoy eating fish at home, too.

"I eat at least two meals of fish a week. Halibut and cod are my favourites. However, there is one thing I really don't like and that's fish bones," she said.

Her passion for fish comes from her grandfather who worked as a deep-sea fisherman out of Grimsby docks.

"He taught me the basics of seafood, how to establish the freshness of whole fish and where to find the bones. My fascination with fish grew from there," said Douglas.

Her bosses are seeking to insure her taste buds with Lloyds of London.

Douglas, who was affectionately nicknamed "The Codmother" by her colleagues, tries a sample of all 80,000 tons of fish and seafood bought by Young's each year.

"We are proud to be the experts in fish and it is people like Jenny who make sure our products are the best they can be," said her boss Leendert den Hollander.

30000 pounds for rare copy of Mein Kampf signed by Hitler

Posted:

The ''rarest ever'' edition of Mein Kampf signed by Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler and featuring vellum bindings and gold lettering on the titles, could fetch up to 30000 in an auction.

The book is one of the 20 limited edition copies that were produced out of the 500 that were originally printed and combines elements of autobiography and Hitler''s political ideology.

The book, dated Christmas Eve 1925 was donated to the Shropshire auctioneers by a collector from Australia and is expected to fetch upto 30000 pounds when it is put up to be auctioned April 19 in the historical documents lot.

The book, dedicated to Hermann Esser, who was one of the founders of the Nazi party and also in prison for his part in the Munich Beer Hall Putsch in 1923, is numbered 19, out of the 20 that have been signed by Hitler.

''This is probably the rarest ever edition of Mein Kampf ever to be offered at auction. It is one of 20 - you can''t get much rarer than that.," Richard Westwood Brookes, an expert with the Mullocks auctioneers, was quoted as saying.

A first edition of the book which the Nazi dictator wrote while he was in Landsberg prison in Germany in 1925, is going for auction later this month and is anticipated to create a bidding war, The Daily Mail reports.

Unsigned copies of the 1925 edition make thousands of pounds in their own right as they are so rare but this copy is one of a very small group within the 500 that were produced.

Mein Kampf is a very well known book and millions of copies are still sold around the world. Hundreds of editions were printed in different languages.

Hitler is thought to have died in 1945, which means the book is still under copyright until 2015.

Japan upgrades nuke emergency to highest level 7

Posted:

Japan's nuclear authorities have raised the nuclear emergency level at the Fukushima nuclear plant to seven on par with the 1986 Chernobyl disaster, described as the world''s worst ever-peacetime nuclear event.

The Chernobyl disaster in Ukraine involved an explosion and a fire that released large quantities of radioactive contamination into the atmosphere, which spread over much of Western Russia and Europe.

It was the only one classified as a level 7 event on the International Nuclear Event Scale until the Fukushima nuclear accident of March 2011.

The Fukushima nuclear plant has been releasing large amounts of radioactive material in the wake of last month''s massive earthquake and tsunami, which is about 10 per cent of that in the Chernobyl accident, news.com.au reports.

The 6.2 magnitude tremor hit 77 kilometres east of Tokyo on Tuesday and swayed buildings in the capital, temporarily shutting down subway services and halting bullet trains. US geologists originally put the magnitude at 6.4.

The latest quake that struck Japan was an aftershock of the 9.0-magnitude quake of March 11 that killed more than 13,000 and left more than 13,500 missing.

Japan has experienced over 400 aftershocks stronger than magnitude 5.0 in last month.

Brit-Indian honeymooner arrested following heated argument in London clinic

Posted:

Shrien Dewani, the Brit-Indian millionaire who has been charged with masterminding his wife's murder during their honeymoon in Cape Town last year, has been arrested following a heated argument with another patient at 'The Priory clinic'.

Dewani, who has been placed on suicide watch, was sent to a secure hospital. Police however, did not reveal whether Dewani had attacked anyone or was himself attacked, The Sun reports.

The incident was serious enough to be considered a breach of his bail.

The 31-year-old Indian-origin businessman is fighting moves to have him extradited to South Africa for trial.

The paper quoted a source close to the Dewani family as saying that the incident happened following a bad reaction to anti-depressants.

"Over the weekend he was loud and noisy. There were a number of violent outbursts. Doctors decided he''d be better catered for elsewhere," the source added.

"He had a reaction to his medication which meant he was loud and noisy. There was no fight or argument but one female resident got in a heated discussion with him and taunted him, saying, ''You should go back to South Africa''," he added.

Dewani is said to be suffering post-traumatic stress over the death of his wife, Anni. Her body was found in a South African township after a carjacking, which Dewani had escaped.

His extradition hearing is scheduled to take place next month.

Berlusconi is so sexy he does not need to pay girls, says friend

Posted:

A Russian friend of Silvio Berlusconi has defended the Italian Prime Minister - who is in the middle of a sex scandal over alleged paid sex with an underage dancer - saying that he is so attractive that he doesn't need to pay for sex.

Raisa Skorkina, a former model, said she first met Berlusconi on Sardinia in 2004 when they swapped numbers, and that he phoned her the next day.

She said she did not have enough words in her vocabulary to describe the 74-year-old politician''s general goodness, saying he helped her with money, advice, and "with everything".

"I cannot tell you the whole truth," the Telegraph quoted Berlusconi as telling Russian daily paper Komsomolskaya Pravda.

"Now, me and him are just good friends. For me Silvio is my second family. He is my guardian angel," she added.

When asked whether Berlusconi needed to pay for sex as his critics have alleged, she sprung to his defence.

"He totally does not need to do that. He is very handsome and regardless of the fact that he is well advanced in his years he is very sexy."

Carl Lewis running again... this time for US Senate seat

Posted:

Track star Carl Lewis is running again. This time the prize is a New Jersey state Senate seat and not an Olympic gold medal.

Lewis, a nine-time Olympic gold medalist from 1984-1996, is expected to announce later today that he'll seek the state Senate seat that covers Burlington County, New Jersey, where he lives.

The Philadelphia Inquirer, citing an unnamed Democratic source, said "all indications are that he'll run".

Lewis, 50, issued a news release saying he'll announce "my political decision" at the Old County Courthouse in Mount Holly. He would face GOP state senator Dawn Addiego.

Apparently, there is something in the water in this part of the Garden State that prompts former athletes to run for political office.

Former Philadelphia Eagles tackle Jon Runyan, a Republican, now holds the congressional seat.

Golden track star
Carl Lewis gained international fame in 1984, when he won four gold medals at the Los Angeles Olympics. He went on to win two golds and a silver at the 1988 Seoul Olympics (in pic), two golds at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and one gold for the long jump at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics the last one he competed in.
His world record in the indoor long jump has stood since 1984 and his 65 consecutive victories in the long jump achieved over a span of 10 years is one of the sport's longest undefeated streaks.

Athlete-Netas

Wrestler Jesse 'The Body' Ventura had a successful career as a wrestler in the WWF before he stood for elections and was voted the mayor of small town in the US. He later went on to become the governor of Minnesota.

Former NFL's Philadelphia Eagles offensive linesman, Jon Runyan, won a seat in the House of Representatives in New Jersey's 3rd District. He stood for the Republicans

Sri Lanka's World Cup-winning captain Arjuna Ranatunga joined Chandrika Kumaratunga's party after retiring from cricket. He went on to hold the post of Deputy Minister of Tourism.

'I'll go out in my veil and fight'

Kenza Drider is on a solo mission to protest the veil ban in France

Kenza Drider, a respectable mother of four, left her home in Avignon's Place de la Resistance yesterday with the intention of committing a crime.

If the police chose to, she would be cautioned, perhaps be asked to accompany officers to the local station, possibly face a fine and, perhaps, will leave with a criminal record.

Kenza Drider at the Gare de Lyon train station in her full veil yesterday a 'crime' under the new law

It is unlikely she will end up in jail, but who knows? It is a risk she is willing to take. Drider is not only determined to become a miscreant; she sees it as her absolute duty to do so.

This 32-year-old French housewife has become the face of the country's "burkha brigade", the women in France who cover themselves from head to toe in full veils.

She will fall foul of a law that kicked in yesterday and forbids French citizens from covering their faces in public places; despite the ban's deliberately general wording, there is no doubt its target is very specific: Muslim women.

Drider's first offence was to set foot inside Avignon's TGV rail station where she is due to take a train to Paris.
For this she risks a Euro 150 (Rs 9,600) fine and, if she repeats the offence, being sent on a "citizenship course".

"I will be going about my business in my full veil as I have for the last 12 years and nothing and nobody is going to stop me," she declares.

Like most of the women concerned by this law, Drider wears a niqab (veil) that reveals only her eyes, as opposed to a burqa, the full body covering worn by Afghan women.

Few affected

For all the political energy President Nicolas Sarkozy's right-of-centre Government has expended on this law, it will affect a relatively tiny number of women; estimates range from 350 to a maximum 2,000 full-veil wearers out of France's population of 64 million.

It is not the potential effectiveness, or otherwise, of the ban that bothers Drider, however. It is the principle.
"This whole law makes France look ridiculous," she says.

"I never thought to see the day when France, my France, the country I was born in and I love, the country of liberte, egalite, fraternite, would do something that so obviously violates people's freedom."

Drider's husband, Allal (40), who works in a soup factory, says that, unlike other housing estates, the area is not "chaud" (hot) and there is little trouble.

He jokes that perhaps he should grow it longer and bushier, as Islamophobes think he and his wife are extremists.

Two arrested

Two Muslim women wearing full face veils have been arrested within hours of France's burkha ban becoming a law, as they were taking part in a demonstration against the new measure in front of Notre Dame Cathedral in central Paris.

Police said they were held not because of her veil but for taking part in an unauthorised protest against the ban.

The law is worded to trip safely through legal minefields: The words "women," "Muslim" and "veil" are not even mentioned. The law says it is illegal to hide the face in the public space.

Rs 9,600
Fine for covering the face in public

Rs 20 lakh
Fine (30,000 euro) for forcing women to don a veil, and possibly twice that if the veiled person is a minor.

Italian PM admits giving Ruby $87,000 to 'save her from prostitution'

A defiant Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi admitted yesterday to giving $87,000 (Rs 39 lakh) to the
17-year-old woman at the center of the sex case against him, but said it was to save her from a life of prostitution.

Berlusconi told reporters outside a Milan court, ahead of a separate appearance on fraud charges against his company Mediaset, that he gave Karima el-Mahroug cash to help her.

Berlusconi said he gave Ruby the money when he found out that she wanted to start a beauty salon and laser hair-removal treatment center with a friend

He said he gave the young woman "money to avoid prostitution" when he found out she wanted to start a beauty salon and laser hair-removal treatment center with a friend.

Berlusconi said he offered 45,000 euros (Rs 29 lakh) to Mahroug, a Moroccan dancer also known by her stage name Ruby The Heart-Stealer.

"Instead she said 60,000 euros (Rs 39 lakh) and I gave this money so she could avoid any need ... to prostitute herself, and to bring her instead in the opposite direction," he said.

Berlusconi added that his direct intervention to spring Mahroug from police custody on theft accusations in May last year was to "avoid a diplomatic incident."

His aides told police at the time he thought she was the granddaughter of ousted Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak.

"I am always courteous and asked for information, worried about situations that could lead to a diplomatic incident.

Later I was told that she was not Egyptian, and dropped everything," Berlusconi said, before adding the sex charges against him were "laughable, idiotic and unfounded."

Berlusconi also criticised the use of telephone taps, that helped build the sex case against him.
"No civilised country would use telephone tapping as it can be manipulated," he said.

Berlusconi's trial on charges of paying an underage prostitute for sex and abuse of power was postponed last week until May 31.

He faces up to three years in prison on the sex charge and 12 years on the abuse of power charge if convicted.

Berlusconi was at the Palace of Justice in Milan to challenge charges of fraud relating to his business empire Mediaset yesterday. He said outside court that "the prosecutors are working against the country," and denied the charges.

The media tycoon has faced a litany of legal cases since he entered politics.

'You're Dreaming'
'"Nobody in the world has had to defend himself as I have against such an incredible smear campaign," Berlusconi said adding, "The accusations are absolutely invented and crazy." Asked if he would be convicted, he responded, "You're dreaming."

Terrorists operating suicidal networks from Pak brothels

Posted:

Some high-profile terrorists are reportedly operating their suicidal networks from brothels, in the guise of hotels and guesthouses, in Pakistan.

"We have traced a few phone calls of high-profile terrorists operating their suicidal network from these brothels," a DIG of the Punjab Police Headquarters, said, adding that the brothels have become the safe havens for terrorists in the City.

The Nation quoted him as saying that many police officials are rendering support and cooperation to the owners of these brothels.

"Can you believe even DSPs and SPs are involved as whenever they raid they direct the hotel owners and managers to directly meet them (DSPs&SPs) instead of wasting their time on SHOs," the insiders have said.

Besides, a confidential police report has revealed that out of total 445, almost 128 brothels are located in the Model Town police division, 96 in Saddar, 75 in City, 52 in Civil Lines, and 42 in the Cantonment police division.

Despite warnings given by the report, compiled by former Capital City Police Officer, Mohammad Pervaiz Rathore, no action has reportedly been taken against the sex workers, those patronising the criminals, and other anti-social elements.

Uproar in Nepal after gunmen kill Indian trader

Posted:

Businessmen staged protests here Monday after unidentified assailants shot dead an Indian trader in the latest incident in a series of gun attacks in Nepal's capital.

Anjani Kumar Chachan, a 40-year-old from Rajasthan who had made Kathmandu his home for over two decades, died of injuries Sunday night in the city's oldest hospital within hours of being shot thrice by two motorcycle-borne attackers.

Chachan, who owned A V Enterprises, a small shop selling leather bags in the dingy and crowded Ganabahal area, one of Nepal's oldest marketplaces, was shot in the arm and stomach by two men around 7 p.m. Sunday when he was still in the shop.

The area had no electricity due to a 14-hour daily power outage clamped by authorities as part of a severe energy crisis. The two men, wearing crash helmets to make identification impossible, fled without being challenged by anyone.

Chachan's wife was in an adjoining room. But by the time she raised an alarm, the killers had escaped.

Police were yet to make any arrests.

Angered by the killing, other shopkeepers and traders from the area, joined by 18 business organisations, protested at the Bir Hospital, surrounding the dead body and demanding security.

Police said they were in talks with protesters to defuse the tension.

The murder of Chachan, who belonged to India's trading community, the Marwaris, comes within a fortnight of the employee of a business group, who are the main dealers of Tata four-wheelers in Nepal, being killed in the Teku area of the capital.

Outside Kathmandu, the situation is worse. On April 6, gunmen killed the manager of a gas station in Chitwan in southern Nepal.

Killings, bomb blasts, abductions and extortion have become a way of life in Nepal following protracted political instability and the failure of a weak government to address any issue of national importance as it battles for survival.

More than two months after being elected prime minister, communist chief Jhala Nath Khanal has not been able to expand his cabinet beyond eight members due to bitter fights with his allies over power-sharing. There is no home minister with the premier keeping the portfolio himself.

The growing power outage, police say, has boosted crime with many killings occurring during power cuts.

Sexual health book in Pakistan schools draws protests

Posted:

A school book on sexual health, which exhorts use of "secure procedure" during sexual intercourse, has been termed controversial as a parent asked "Is this what we send our daughters to learn from school?"

The school book on sexual health is part of the curricula for class six to class 10 in government secondary schools of Karachi.

Called "Zindagi guzarne ke maharaton per mubni taaleem" (Life Skill Based Education - LSBE), the book is supplementary besides the syllabus approved by the Sindh Text Book Board (STBB), the Daily Times reported Monday.

A girl student's father pointed out that in chapter 12, students have been instructed to use "secure procedure" during sexual intercourse with their partners to avoid diseases like AIDS.

It goes on to instruct, "During sex with an affected person or someone you don't know, a condom should be used".

The man asked: "Is this what we send our daughters to learn from school?"

The media report said that a few teachers backed out from teaching the book after reading it. Several principals and an education officer in Karachi have termed the content of the book controversial.

The content was contrary to the local values and should be modified, District Education Officer Shabbir Ahmed Jokhio was quoted as saying. He hoped that the objectionable content would be taken out from the book in the next year.

Indonesian politician accused of watching porn in parliament

An Indonesian politician has been accused of watching porn on his tablet computer in parliament.

Arifinto, who represents the conservative Islamic Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), was caught on camera on Friday looking at a pornographic image on the tablet, which he held slightly under his table, during a plenary session, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

The photograph, first posted on a local news website, was picked up by other media and sparked a public outcry on the Twitter microblogging site during the weekend.

House Ethics Council Deputy Chairman Nudirman Munir said: "We''re carrying out intensive verification to see (if) he had indeed violated the code of ethics. If proven true, this is a serious violation as he would have ruined the image and dignity of parliament. It''s best that he resign, or face dismissal."

Arifinto claims he unintentionally opened an email link that led to "pornographic images", the Jakarta Globe newspaper reports.

Brit surrogate mum pregnant again with Osama Bin Laden's grandchild!

Posted:

A British former poledancer who miscarried Osama Bin Laden's twin grandchildren in 2010 has revealed that she is pregnant again with the grandchild of the world's most wanted terrorist.

It's the fifth time Louise Pollard has undergone IVF to provide Laden's son Omar, 30, and his 55-year-old British wife Zaina with a child, reports the Daily Mail.

Pollard, who lives in a Bristol council flat and now works as a PA, will be paid 10,000 pounds after the child is born.

She miscarried the twins September 2010 after she was attacked while on holiday with Zaina, who was previously known as Jane Felix-Browne before she converted to Islam.

She was 10 weeks pregnant when two unknown men assaulted her as she walked alone from a cafe to her accommodation late at night.

Omar and Zaina split up afterwards amid claims that he was suffering from a mental illness, but it now appears they are back together.

Pollard also said in September 2010 that she would not be attempting surrogacy again for the couple and that Zaina's eggs were no longer viable anyway because of her age.

However, she said a tearful, hour-long conversation with Omar's wife changed her mind.

"Zaina told me I was beautiful and I was the only woman who could have her baby in the world. She said she couldnt do it with anyone else. She was absolutely devastated and just begged me over and over again," said the surrogate mom.

"They want a baby who will have a British passport so Zaina can have the child with her when she visits family her," she said.

She also told Sunday People that the child might bear the name of the terror chief.

"Zaina calls it baby radpole - but she has joked that she would call a son Osama," said Pollard.

"I dont care if people criticise me for helping Omar and Zaina to have a baby. They deserve to be parents just as much as anyone else. Being Osama's son is not easy for him," she added.

Anger over baby clothes glorifying terror groups, suicide bombers

A website in US is being investigated after it advertised baby clothes with slogans glorifying terror groups and suicide bombers.

The clothes include one saying: "Your 77 virgins are waiting for you in heaven."

The slogan refers to the virgins supposedly awaiting "martyrs" in paradise, according to Islamic hate preachers.

MPs have called for a probe into the Californian website Cafepress, which is selling the clothes.

"David Cameron has promised the Government will get a grip on extreme Islamism," the Daily Star quoted Robert Halfon, 42, Tory MP for Harlow, as saying.

British groups plan naked protests during royal wedding

Posted:

Anti-government groups in Britain are planning to stage naked protests wearing only masks in a bid to disrupt the wedding of Prince William.

The protests are being organised by groups that call themselves Lunarchy, Sluts Against Cuts and the International Union Of Sex Workers.

The dress code is masks that show only the eyes and mouth for men and similar masks plus red lipstick for women.

The organisers have also held talks with adult film-makers to record an "alternative" wedding video, the Daily Express reported.

A group called Meltdown is in charge of producing an adult movie during the event.

"Police are saying they're enforcing a ring of steel, a sterile zone, around the route of the royal procession. They are making it clear they want absolute monarchy on the day, a highly controlled royal production, policed militarily with snipers on the roof. The last thing you want at a royal wedding is sterility. You want the opposite fertility," said a group member Chris Knight.

"You can't plan an orgy, but that's what we intend. It's going to be a very sexy event," he said.

"There's lots of young people turning up so it'll be sexy. We're finding a lot of support for it. One hundred and eighty people have signed up to the Facebook page for it already," he said."

Japan hit by another 7.1-magnitude aftershock, tsunami warning issued

A magnitude-7.1 aftershock rattled Japan on Monday, one month after the 9.0-magnitude earthquake that spawned a deadly tsunami.

The epicenter of the earthquake, which struck at a depth of 10 kilometres, was near Hamadori of Fukushima Prefecture.

Japan's meteorological agency has issued a tsunami warning saying that a three-foot wave could hit Ibaraki prefecture, the area worst hit by last month's massive tsunami.

Workers battling to contain the nuclear crisis at the Fukushima power plant have been ordered to evacuate, News.com.au reports.

According to reports, the quake caused some buildings to sway in Tokyo.

Narita International Airport temporarily closed a runway for safety checks.
