| Who's fasting in Bollywood for Anna Hazare? Posted: We might be notorious for being on the list of "most corrupt" countries in the world, but a resurgent India is changing its ways. Realising this, B-Town actors and directors have pledged support to a cause being fought for by social activist Anna Hazare. Some even go as far as saying they would support him by fasting for a day. We check in and record their words for posterity. |
| US: No accord in budget talks as policy fights hamper deal Posted: Another day of intense negotiations between the two parties failed to yield a budget deal on Thursday, leaving the federal government hours from a shutdown. After the third round of White House talks in 24 hours with Speaker John A. Boehner and Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader, President Obama said that they had made progress and that he hoped a compromise could be reached early Friday. |

Mr Hazare is on the fourth day of his hunger strike. The government has been negotiating with a team of activists that support the 72-year-old Gandhian's campaign, India Against Corruption. Lakhs of Indians are supporting Mr Hazare in his call for a Jan Lokpal Bill (Citizen's Ombudsman Bill). |
