Proview rejects Apple's settlement offer in iPad disputeApple reportedly offered Proview $16 million to settle the companies' ongoing legal dispute over the iPad name, but Proview rejected the offer, Chinese website Sina reported. The cash-strapped company is instead looking for $400 million dollars in an attempt to appease numerous creditors, eight of which are China-based banks. Proview originally threatened to sue Apple in United States for $2 billion, but a California judge tossed out the suit, instead encouraging the companies to reach a settlement. The two companies have been locked in a high-profile legal dispute over whether or not Apple has the right to use the iPad name. The Cupertino-based company maintains that it licensed the trademark from Proview in 2009, however the Chinese company claims the transaction in question

Samsung to sell ultra-thin $9,000 OLED HDTV in second half of 2012Samsung on Thursday announced plans to launch its new flat-panel OLED TVs during the second half of this year, according to The Washington Post. OLED technology is still new and therefor very expensive. The company's high-end 55-inch OLED TV will be priced double Samsung's current offerings, costing more than $9,000 when it launches in South Korea. The technology provides users with improved picture quality and deeper color saturation with high contrast. OLED technology also allows vendors to develop thinner and lighter TVs, and Samsung believes it will take two to three year before it becomes an industry standard. The South Korean electronics giant previously announced that it would showcase its 55-inch OLED HDTV at Berlin's IFA trade show in late August

The claim comes from independent analyst Andy M. Zaky, whose estimates over the past four years have been considerably more accurate than the average Wall Street analyst, according to Fortune. Unlike most analysts, Zaky has projected the Cupertino-company's growth over a number of years, rather than for relevant quarters.
